| I agree 100% Kj. Dope is dope regardless. Who cares what label they come from, but if they do go Major, they should continue making good music. Now when they start out very underground and turn around and make a frisbee talking about what's hot right now on a major label then I'd call them a sell out. I like underground and mainstream artists too. Granted I haven't really caught up on what's hot right now. There are so many unheard albums, so little time.
Btw, Nice breakdown kev. |

| Al, don't take this as an insult or anything, but aren't you a pop bopper for hip hop up until the late 90's? I mean most of your favorite albums from the 80's and early 90's are straight pop bopper choices and even albums by contemporaries like Knonam have a very heavy pop influence. No disrespect, it just seems odd from knowing your taste. |

lol...I wasn't really being serious. Anyway, I don't consider golden age/old school hip-hop a trait of pop-bopperism. Like GK3 pointed out a few posts back, the shit started out underground. Sure, it got bigger, but you know as well as anyone else that pop-rap was good back in the day. Hell, alt rock/grunge was also "pop music" back in the 90s. I wouldn't call any of it pop by genre, but I did listen to a lot of popular music then. And I don't consider Knonam pop by any standard. He mixed 80s pop music into his set, but that's not popular now. I'd call that retro, or throwback. Kids don't like that shit (not many do besides a few of us here...and a few in MN...lol).

Thanks man. Been listening to Funkadelic nonstop lately. I just loved that art. I think I may like their debut a touch more.

- I would go as far to say that underground elitists are WORSE than pop boppers. I don't know many pop boppers that ONLY listen to records that come out on Interscope, but I do know underground heads that only listen to Anticon, or Def Jux, or Rhymesayers, etc etc.
bunny please, Pop-Boppers only listen to what pop-culture feeds them. They don't even bother with the old school
