Top 100. One of the few instros albums in my top 100.

Never heard this, but an instro album would never make my Top 100 no matter how dope it is.

Top 50. Album was made completely from samples. I love it.

Top 100...classic left field instrumental hip-hop....

I'll say top 100. It's hard for instrumental albums to make my top 100, but this and Donuts make the cut.

Cosign. Donuts would get like top 50 from me though. Actually DJ Shadow's "Private Press" may also make my top 100...but it probably misses it by a little. Otherwise Kid Koala would be the only instrumental artist that would make it for me that I can think of....and you can barely consider his stuff hip-hop. Genius work IMO though.

Oh, KJ admits bias? This is one for the record books. And this album is fucking dope. I don't like instrumental albums much either, but this and Dead Ringer are both in my top 100.

I don't dislike instros, but there aren't any that reach 5 stars for me.

If I wanted to hear nothing but beats, I'd bump Miles Davis or Herbie Hancock over any instrumental hip-hop album.

Dead Ringer is another excellent instrumental. Good call there...

But overall, I agree with KJ to an extent. I do prefer Miles Davis or Coltrane over any instrumental hip-hop album. But that's really a different beast altogether. I like them for different reasons.

I've heard TONS of hip-hop instros. While many of them are dope, none of them are 5 stars and even if this one is I can't see it beating the albums on the bottom end of my Top 100.
