I guess you're digging Recovery a lot. It has gotten better with me on each spin. Cold Wind Blows is really the only track i'm not feeling, and WTP is just ok to me too.

| OK, i will spare everyone some time. N3R0 will bring up that this is not his debut(cause it's not) because he's anal about specifics even when everyone under the sun knows what is being talked about. E. Taylor will reply with this is his major lable debut. N3R0 will say fair enough, and everyone is happy. | |

And a big SMH @ Wayne for neithering this album. C'Mon Son, Em's one of the best that ever did it.
And Pounds wishes his favorite saltines could be on Em's level. After Em and the Beastie Boys, there's a dropoff when it comes to white boys containing the total package in hip-hop. |

There's only two people on here that would have neithered this album, Wayne and Pounds. Alan always voices his ridiculous disdain towards Eminem, so it had to be Wayne. |

However when people think of the Beasties, they are usually thinking of Licensed To Ill or Paul's Boutique, and those albums are just as much Rick Rubin and The Dust Brothers as it is the Beasties Boys. As far as the total package, i'd throw 3rd Bass into the convo. Serch has hella skills IMO.

As for the Beasties, I agree with what you said. Their first two albums are definitely their best but Check Your Head and Hello Nasty were pretty dope as well. |

The chemistry they share as a group of lyricist far exceeds that of most solo emcees. Not to downplay that, but there is a lot to be said about timing and being on the same wavelength as a trio. Sharing rhythms and complimenting each other. Not to mention dope beats and cuts... And most people think of Licensed To Ill or Paul's Boutique? I can tell you from growing up in the suburbs for most of my life, that is most certainly not true. The numbers don't lie... Check Your Head - 2X Platinum (in the US only) Hello Nasty - 3X Platinum (in the US only) To The 5 Boroughs - Platinum (in the US only)

Check Your Head - 2X Platinum (in the US only) Hello Nasty - 3X Platinum (in the US only) To The 5 Boroughs - Platinum (in the US only) um, Licensed To Ill is like 9x plat, right? What i was saying is that their chemistry is great. They are nothing special lyrically. The foundation they built was due in large part to Rubin's production and The Dust Brothers production.

What i was saying is that their chemistry is great. They are nothing special lyrically. The foundation they built was due in large part to Rubin's production and The Dust Brothers production. The chemistry is what makes the lyricism great, was my point. 9x platinum...yeah, but how could you discount the other platinum selling albums that reached new audiences? A new crop of kids were buying those new Beasties album. Check Your Head sound nothing like it's predecessors. It's a completely different formula altogether. Same with Hello Nasty. Shit is just spacey at time. Mix Master Mike's production yet again completely changed their sound. I personally like To The 5 Boroughs more than both (all are personal classics). But that's more of a true school throwback IMO. Pure hip-hop. ALSO, not sure how I forgot Ill Communication. 3X Platinum (in the US only). Altogether, that's 9 Million copies sold excluding their first 2 albums (in the US only). You underestimate white suburbanites. lol

I'm not using it to "rep" the group. Just proving Terry's point incorrect. Saying they sold a bunch has nothing to do with them being the "total package". Period. I find it really weird that you of all people would much such an obviously false claim. Is Souljah Boi the "total package"? No, Lex Luger is. |

| ok, let's see here. I say when most people think of the Beaties, they think of Licensed To Ill oand Paul's Boutique. You disagree by saying i underestimate white suburbanites, and you proceed to give me sales figures, and all of those sales figures are dwarfed by Licensed To Ill which is one of the albums i mentioned. I'm just not seeing your point. The only thing i can assume is that you are trying to show that they have been successfule without Rubin and The Dust Brothers. While that may be true, the fact still remains that LTI is by far their most successful and Paul's Boutique is by far their most acclaimed, right? | |

In addition to do that, the reinvention of themselves musically and bridging a generational gap most old school acts couldn't dream of getting close to. I'm not arguing "most acclaimed". I'm arguing that fans who discovered The Beasties mid or late career holding Hello Nasty or Check Your Head or Ill Communication in highest regard. There are a shit load of people that I've met in my time that play these albums way more than their first two.
