| I loved Late Registration but I'm not sure he deserves top 100. I didn't like Graduation and The College Dropout very much. There are much more deserving artists/groups left anyways. Neither for the fish stick lover.

| Kanye is easily top 100 for me, and he may even be in the latter half of my top 50. He's got two albums that could be considered classics. one album is 4 stars, and I actually like 808's and Heartbreaks. The production is great. He does the autotune better than T- Pain, Lil Wayne, and everyone else using it now. There are 3 or 4 songs that i really loved on that album, and overall it's at 3.5 stars for me. I know C. Tran is the only other person who liked 808's but oh well. It is what it is. | |

| Neither. No consensus hip-hop classics, and we're not rating top 100 producers here. He's more recent so people have a tendency to overrate him. |

| Besides a handful of cuts, Kanye never moved me much, and I don't see him objectively being top 100 either. | |

| I wouldn't vote him in as one of the 100 greatest rappers, but isn't this a 100 greatest artists list? With all of his production work, I'd say he's easily one of the 100 greatest artists. | |

| Mr.West is easily top 100 IMO
yes this new autotune oriented album is a piece of shit, but his first two were legit and near classics...
also he's done enough dope, and even some ground breaking beats to get in...that "Flashing Lights" beat is still bananas to me and that's just one of his efforts that I really like alot
lyrically he's an average emcee but he has spit some gems "Jesus Walks" and "Can't Tell Me Nothing" come to mind first, but overall he's an average emcee with normally above-average to some great beats...
Kanye is a top 100 hip-hop act of all-time easily....

I was considering Pete Rock & DJ Premier's production careers when Pete Rock & CL Smooth and Gang Starr were nominated. I realize that this list has certainly gone away from being a top 100 artists list, and instead being a top 100 rapper/group list, but we do still have time to go in making the list, maybe consideration should be given to both sides of the music making process.

| U know what's funny Steve? If Marley Marl were nominated, with this crowd, I don't think he would make it...
Cise Starr and his posse would not allow it because he was before their time and they would vote anyway even though the knowledge on him is either low or outright non-existent and he wouldn't make it man...which would be a shame, because he is the GOAT hip-hop producer IMO...
but fuck it Kev, throw him up there and let's see how it plays out man

| I can't find myself putting dude in top 100. I would say maybe top 120...now his production on the other hand, may land him a spot in the top 70. | |

| We are not nominating producers we are doing artist and Kanye is one of the best imo. To me he was a above average lyricists on his 1st two albums and lately he has been average in the lyric dept. But delivery, style, impact, influence, and catalog wise he is one of the best. |

gotta go with Steve on this one Kanye is a very subpar rapper, if we were doing producers hed make it in easily but theres other desering people that have put in more time and work in the game that should have made it over him

That sounds like and idea though. Kev would you be willing to do maybe a top 50 of hip hop producers. I'd volunteer, but what I know probably doesn't go as deep as what you seem to know, doing all these threads

but fuck it Kev, throw him up there and let's see how it plays out man Marley wasn't a rapper though Powell, he was a producer. This list is only for rappers. If it were for producers though, Marley would be a shoe-in. Anybody that would vote against him would be either retarded or has limited hip-hop knowledge. But as for Kanye, I agree that he's EASILY Top 100. If not for that horrible auto-tune album, I'd vote him Top 50. His first 3 albums are all excellent, and Late Registration is a personal classic. |

But hey if you feel like doing it by all means go for it but you may want to wait until some of these voting threads die down to avoid a overload..lol. |
