I would say top 10, but I'm a puppet, so I'll wait to see how Steve and SRP vote.

I vote neither because one artist is not chosen for me to vote on.

Basically what Powell said and one of my all time favorite tracks of all time. It was good to see them perform the track live at Rock The Bells. Top 30 for the sake of this poll but more like Top 15 personally.

Rae and Ghost used to do a lot together, so I never really considered Ghost as a "guest" per se. Nas on the other hand, is nice in this. I'll give him Top 25.

SMH, Ghost doesn't count as a guest because he was featured on more than half the tracks on OB4CL, so the guest is Nas.
Anyway, for me this is Top 5 easily. While Ghost and Rae were dope as well, Nas RIPPED this track to shreds!!!

Well if you look at the bottom of the album cover it says "guest" starring Ghostface. So he is a guest but I get what you guys mean.

Technically, he is a guest. But I don't consider him as such. Especially for the purposes of this thread. If others want to vote as if Ghost is a guest, then I have no problem with that.

LOL @ people saying this is top 5. Sure, this may be in Nas' top 5 guest appearances, but top 5 overall? Nah, i just don't see it. There is no doubt that Nas' verse is beastly, but it seriously lacks the impact that a top 5(maybe even a top 10) guest spot should have IMO. This guest spot did nothing to advance Nas' career. It was merely another feather in his cap.
for what it's worth, the guest spots that would qualify would be Snoop on Deep Cover, Busta on Scenario, AZ on Life's A Bitch, Nas on Live At The BBQ, Slick Rick on The Show(although it may not technically be considered a guest spot). There's more, but i'll stop there

I understand where you are coming from Terry but I personally like his lines on this track quite a bit. Life's A Bitch is probably number 1 or 2 for me. An artist drops the best lines of his career on somebody else's album? Pretty fuckin major.

Yeah, i get that, and if that's how people are voting, i can't disagree. There's no guidelines on how people vote so there are people using different criteria so i meant no disrespect to anyone. There's no doubt that Nas kills it, but a guest spot meant something back in the day. It was a springboard for success. It was an introduction to an artist. To me that's the essence of a great/legendary guest spot.

A guest spot did not have to be a springboard for an artist Terry.....Heavy D-Don't Curse as an example had a bunch of classic guest appearances on it, but every artist who was on it was pretty established or already heard of before they appeared there but because of the lyrics and the production that joint ranks pretty high for me in terms of dope guest appearances...samething with Fat Joe-John Blaze.....LL Cool J-I Shot Ya and Stop The Violence Movement-Self Destruction...all of those joints and many more are examples of emcees doing guest appearances and killing shit and the production was tight but it wasn't necessarily a "springboard" for any emcee in particular.....

yeah, i wasn't trying to imply that. i guess my post read that way though. I meant those springboard type of performances make the guest spot more memorable. If you look at the guest spots i listed, all of them were a definite springboard. Like i said, it's cool if people vote differently. Different strokes is all.

While it didn't advance Nas' career, it was one of many verses on the Purple Tape that people hit the rewind button on so they can memorize what he said, and he clearly outshined both Rae and Ghost on that track even though they were dope too. That's why I love that verse so much. Even if it isn't Top 5 objectively, just based on dopeness there aren't many verses better IMO.

A collab to me is when multi artist all seemed to have or had equal input in the whole track. They collabed together on more than one of the following: the beat choice, hook, song concept, and song titile. The song is listed as artist and artist instead of artist featuring artist.
Self Destruction, The Points, Natural Born Killers, and a lot others to me were collabrations. But there is a thinline for some songs if we want to get very technical like My Buddy and Scenerio for example.

yeah, i don't disagree with that. I would say it's arguably the best verse on the whole album.

to me a collabo and a "guest" appearance are one in the same....given the way you just said it it's kinda hard to differentiate between which is which without having complete knowledge of how much input each emcee/producer had on the given song....so to me they are the same thing....My Buddy for example we don't know how much input Tribe gave De La regarding the hook or the drums or the samples used so that's a collabo and a guest appearance as well IMO....
I just asked you for your meaning because I look at them as the same thing man that's all!

In my opinion he did have the best verse on the album. It even made the Source dopest rhyme of the month when OB4CL was released back when The Source had credibility.

He's not a cheater, it's just that he was trying to get a deal at the time and it took him like 3 years to do so. Big ups to MC Serch for hookin him up.
