| Oh damn, this matchup is even tougher than Raising Hell vs OB4CL.
If you asked me which album I thought was better overall, I'd pick 3 Feet High & Rising. But Mama Said Knock You Out is the slightly better produced album. This was one of Marley's best albums, and LL's best album IMO. |

A blowout? Man, you say that as if the De La album is wack or something. lol WTF is this blowout you speak of? Prince Paul's production was sickly inventive on that album. Dude including every genre under the sun on his palette...even including Johnny Cash & Steely Dan! Who the fuck was using these types of samples in hip-hop back then? Thematically, shit had great concepts and was very unique, especially for it's time. It contained an incredible number of samples. Not saying Marley Marl's production ain't just as fly, but I definitely give Prince Paul the leg up on originality and ambition. I do feel it's better, but it's very close...no blowout at all.

| I've got Marley in a complete blowout Alan, and easily too
Three Feet High and Rising is not my favorite De La Soul record...The Grind Date and De La Soul Is Dead are both better IMO and this is not Prince Paul's best work....his Stetsasonic and Gravediggaz and A Prince Among Thieves are all better to me...this is why I say it's a blowout man...

Lyrically and overall, 3 Feet High is SUPERIOR to anything LL ever made IMO. It's among my 20 all time favs. I don't see what Powell is saying at all. None of those albums he mentioned are as good as 3 Feet High. De La Soul Is Dead is the only one that comes close. I love The Grind Date, but it's more on the level of Stakes Is High than 3 Feet High. |

| Yeah Buhloone Mind State is a sick effort from De La man, I like that one as well although I have 3 Feet High in front of it
But yeah man The Grind Date wins for me man...Dilla,9th Wonder,Madlib,JakeOne,Supa Dave, and their lyrics make that shit a CLASSIC for me man...it's just that sick to me and I have the forum (Norf and Pounds) for mentioning that joint to me...gotta give them thanks for that one man...my favorite De La effort!

Non-fans?? I've been a fan of De La since they first came out, so CLEARLY you didn't mean me dude. IMO 3 Feet High IS their best work. There's no skip material on it. I like it better than all the LL records because I feel Posdanous and Dove had tremendous chemisty on that album, and I like Pos' lyricism more than LL's. I know you disagree with that, and that's fine with me. But that's just my opinion. I do respect LL though, and those three albums you mentioned are certainly classics. Me Myself and I, Buddy, Eye Know, Ghetto Thang, Say No Go, The Magic Number, Jenifah Taught Me, Potholes In My Lawn, the list goes on and on with classic songs on that album. The reason I voted for MSKYO is because of Marley's production like you mentioned, but I also dig Prince Paul production. I just dug Marley's effort more. As a whole though, I prefer 3 Feet High and Rising. |
