| I have no problem with top 50 if someone wants to give them that - but they have no business in GOAT talks as a group... |

| Top 50 and GOAT go hand in hand. Some of those other grps don't belong in any type of GOAT talk either but i'm not bitching about that. |

| Groups that will get more votes:
Guerilla Maab Cyne Blue Scholars etc...
I mean you want to give them a sympathy nod then go ahead - call it what it is - a sympathy nod - they have no business in this tourney. |

| I'm cool with Salt N Pepa, but personally I don't think they're a top 50 rap group of all time, and I'm not biased towards female artists, however, I have no issue with someone who feels they are top 50. |

| they are EASILY a top 50 hip-hop group of all-time no questions asked...
WHY??
because of what they mean to the female emcees thats why....they are like the Run-D.M.C. for females...the first female hip-hop artists actually making an impact in a male dominated industry....
they are easily a top 50 group probably number 50 for me personally....

they are easily a top 50 group probably number 50 for me personally.... While I feel that's a respectable stance, Powell, do we give credit to the Beastie Boys JUST for being white? Or did they have to be able to hang with their peers in the process as well? It's nothing against SNP but I don't feel they've ever made a "Criminal Minded", "ATLiens", "Straight Outta Compton", "It Takes A Nation Of Millions", "E99/Eternal", etc etc etc |

| Again gulity this is my opinion on Salt-N-Pepa....whether you agree with it or not means nothing here....you asked a question and I answered it my dude
and also just for the record....those first 4 albums by them especially the first 2 were bangin efforts....Hurby blessed those projects lovely with his beats, and he wrote their lyrics as well on them....album 3 and 4 from them were no less than 3 star efforts IMO!
top 50 of all-time hip-hop group EASILY.....number 50 on my list!

top 50 of all-time hip-hop group EASILY.....number 50 on my list! I said I respected your damn opinion, Powell. But you neglected to answer if you felt that they produced an album that can compete with the classics...yes, "banging", but as good as the aforementioned? No, I don't think so. |

| NO! they didn't produced anything as good as those classics you mentioned, Hot,Cool And Vicious is about as close as they got, and that one is a 4.5 stars effort IMO....it is bangin, Hurby did his thing on the production and when you think about the fact that Salt-N-Pepa was just a school project for Hurby at the beginning and he was able to take them to the heights that he did it makes it even more impressive...and he did it with female emcees no less, when at that time outside of Sequence, Roxanne Shante, Sparky D, and Sha Rock the female contribution was slim to none.....Salt-N-Pepa gave birth to MC Lyte....Queen Latifah...Lauryn Hill, etc,etc....they are a very important group my dude.... | |

| I'm not saying they're not important, and I'm not even disputing the fact that they're dope, it's just two different opinions Powell. I don't think a group's importance should overtake the fact that they're not in line with the other groups that are more deserving of that spot based on their work and not popularity or struggle. It's cool though, neither of us are going to change the other's mid. |

| Hey man I've got at least 49 other groups in front of Salt-N-Pepa so I feel in that other 49 all my bases are covered...if you don't make that 49 (like The Geto Boys as an example) then that means IN MY OPINION your just not good enough to make my final cut.....
and yes hip-hop4life forum I do not like The Geto Boys at all....but I love and respect 'Face....I just wish he was always solo...but that's another topic for another time...lol

Where is that logic? Trae, Ro and Dougie write their own rhymes - SnP can't even say that - I didn't realize karoake groups were eligible - is it just because they have pussies? |

| Fuck this forum. If SNP had penises the majority of this group would praise them.
They're ABSOLUTELY a Top 50 group of all time. They've accomplished more in this rap game than half the groups listed in the tournament. They've got platinum albums, platinum hits, and a couple of all time great songs.
While they aren't the most talented group of all time, they certainly aren't wack either. They would get the nod in any group/forum that wasn't biased against female rappers. There hasn't been a single strong argument against SNP on this thread, and they likely won't be.
Ultimately, it's Kev's decision so this bullshit thread doesn't mean anything anyway other than misogynistic rap fans spewing their hatred.

| Strong arguments:
Salt N Pepa are not good emcees... neither would make a top 100 or even 200 list.
They did not write their own lyrics - this is a huge argument against them - would we give diddy a goat nod because he has dope ghost writers?
The only reason SnP are famous/important is because they are females - if a male group had released their same albums and had the same career they would have been forgotten by now. |

The only reason SnP are famous/important is because they are females - if a male group had released their same albums and had the same career they would have been forgotten by now. 1) I like their music more than many of the groups listed in this tourney. Of course they aren't good MC's to you or most here because they're women, and most in here don't like female MC's at all. 2) There's a lot of MC's that didn't write their own lyrics that are legendary. Dr Dre, Easy E, and Bushwick Bill come to mind. 3) The Fat Boys haven't been forgotten, nor will they ever be. Hell, I'd even take The Fat Boys over groups like Cyne, Blue Scholars, Guerilla Mobb, and some others that the vast majority of non-rap nerds haven't heard of. SNP has done more with Hot, Cool, and Vicious than those groups will ever do in their entire careers. |

| Nelly has done more than KRS One - does that make him a better rapper? G-Maab are street rappers, not nerd rappers. SnP being wack has nothing to do with their sex - them being overrated by you does.
Dr. Dre, Eazy E, and Bushwick Bill have no business in a GOAT tournament for emcees. |

| The Fat Boys deserve to be added.
Since SNP are a group they get the nod for their chemistry more than anything else. Also their delivery, style, classic songs, and influence.

Dr. Dre, Eazy E, and Bushwick Bill have no business in a GOAT tournament for emcees. Nelly HAS NOT done more than KRS-One. He's not nearly as influential nor does he show up on any GOAT lists. KRS consistently does. People still talk about KRS to this day. Hardly anyone talks about Nelly anymore. I know G-Maab are street rappers. I didn't call them nerds, I said that most of their fans are rap nerds who dig through the crates. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but just saying that they don't belong in a tournament more than a group that's been a pioneer and done so much for the game like SNP has. And again, your point means nothing because you don't like ANY female rappers at all, nor do most people in here. They would be included in a rap tournament in most forums but because this one hates all female rappers, people like you and Jeff bitch about their inclusion in the tourney. You think Guerilla Maab, Outlaws, Cyne, and Blue Scholars are GOAT groups??? Fuck no!!! They wouldn't go past the first round in this thing either. But at least SNP has the credentials for their inclusion. Truth be told, there's probably only about 7-8 groups at best that have a legit shot of winning this thing. But since we're doing a tournament and 64 groups are being put in then SNP deserves to be mentioned. Anyone saying otherwise has a bias against female rappers.

| Alright, as far as the whole 'they are a top 50 group because of influence' goes, weren't we instructed to ignore influence, sales, popularity, mass appeal, etc. for emcees? Why shouldn't we do the same for groups? When it's looks at that way, I don't think they should be included. | |
