It's not like the Fat Boys would have gotten out of the first round anyway.

Yeah you're probably right, because most dudes in here (myself excluded) are intimidated by strong females.

Those "strong females" are called transvestites.

It is mandatory to have seen and enjoyed Krush Groove before ever making any statements concerning Hip-Hop.

I don't know what that has to do with anything.. did anyone say they hadn't seen Krush Groove? Also, I find most of the 80s hip-hop movies to to be corny and stereotypical...

I stand by my comment, if you feel like you gotta put up your defenses, do your thing. Since you think Krush Groove was corny and stereotypical with nothing to do with the topic, I can't continue here, your bordering Hip-Hop blaspheme.

There's no defense and no point to make. If you think watching a corny movie is essential to hip-hop, that's your opinion, but that has nothing to do with who the better group in this match up. It's not blasphemy, I just don't put on blinders.

What the fuck was stereotypical about Krush Groove??? Jesus Christ!
If you didn't like the movie it's whatever (although I can't see why any REAL hip-hop head wouldn't). But to say it was stereotypical is completely fucking asinine.
On a side note, another classic hip-hop movie is Wild Style.

My question remains - what do any of those movies have to do with a Gang Starr vs. Fat Boys rap versus?

I get all those movies confused, is Wild Style the one where the P.R. graff writer gets electricuted by the 3rd rail?

yeah. that's wildstyle. krush groove is the def jam inspired one where russell owes a street hustler money he borrowed from to press up his first records... not stereotypical at all.

SRP- A Video was then posted, I found it to be the opposite of funny. I see Fat Boys as one of Hip-Hop's foundation groups but in no way better than Guru & Premo musically. The fact that the FBs were on the original Def Jam roster with RUN-DMC, Kurtis Blow & LL Cool J should legitimise their place in Hip-Hop royalty with those guys. Krush Groove››› 8 Mile or any other wackness.

Mack Blades - you need a sense of humor, fat boys were fat asses with minimum hip-hop skills. A movie has nothing to do with their music. They might have been a foundation act, but so was kurtis blow and sugar hill and they had equally low skills. Further, what foundation did Fat Boys set? There's been one and only one group like them in the entire game, we've had no other jokesters like them make it big since.

There will never be another Fat Boys, they did have skills by the 80s standards. I may have no sense of humor according to you SRP but the sense of humor they brought to the game was essential for the growth of Hip-Hop. Guess you never heard of Biz Markie or even ODB, plenty of rappers have made comedy laced recordings. The Fat Boys were just the first and I'm not sure but they may have been the innovators of the beat-box as we know it.

I don't really connect the fat boys with ODB or Biz. Biz was from the same era. ODB was not intentionally funny, he was just out there and high all the time. Krush Groove is a highly fictionalized account of Def Jam, I don't see it as essential viewing unless you want to see rappers acting badly.

Yes indeed Mack. Buffy was the original Human Beat Box, and The Fat Boys were a pioneering act. People looked past their appearance and just looked at the dope records they made, and they proved a point that you can get props in the rap game regardless of what you look like. They were party rappers who were overweight, and weren't ashamed of it. And Krush Groove is one of the best hip-hop movies ever made.
It disgusts me when people like SRP dis The Fat Boys yet big up pieces of shit like Gucci Mane. Fat Boys at least made fun, entertaining records. Gucci Mane will never be known for anything except being trash.
