yeah, i got GZA a few spots ahead of Andre, but it's close. I also got Meth and Ghost ahead of Big Boi

I'm leaning towards Wu, but I need to deliberate. I'll vote tomorrow.

Not counting solo efforts, i put each groups top 4 albums up against each other. Kast won 3 of the 4 so i'm going with Outkast.

hmmm this one is tough....in terms of catalog 'Kast wins that one going away IMO....in terms of talent the WU wins that one going away against any other hip-hop group ever IMO...so since I've bumped 36 Chambers and Forever more than I've bumped ATLiens and Aquemini then I'm going with the WU....this is strictly a personal pick, but this one could go either way and it's all good to me....

I agree. After much deliberation, I'm placing my vote in favor of the Wu also.

Well we got about a day and a half left in voting. I dig what powell is saying and I do believe if I was taking in solo work WU would win as an entity - but as a group - Outkast got them beat.

when i consider groups i find it necessary to consider all collaborations groups have had. So im not considering solo albums, but i am considering all those damn songs they collaborated on solo albums because those were essentially group songs. And they win by a landslide under those circumstances...

then you should only consider the songs where all members of the groups were on there... and those are not that many to make it such a landslide IMO.

Early on in the competition I had said that Wu deserved to win it all but when I really think it about it, I bump Kast way more than Wu. ATLiens beat the Killa Beez.

No, it's not ridiculous, what's ridiculous is you going off some changing definition of what a wu-song is. At least on albums they present themselves as a group. Sure it would be hard to have all 9 members on each song, but they present themselves as a group. Outside of that what is your definition? 2 wu emcees? 3? I would want at least the majority to be featured, so it would be 5 at least. But unless those features say Ft. WU_TANG CLAN I would not count them - if it features emcees from the clan and they are featured separately that is not a group feature and you know this.

Slang, i think you're over-reaching with the guest spots, but it's hard to argue cause the dynamic is the same.

ive had the same criteria for every group. i.e.ive been counting every Outkast collab that wasnt on an album, every Mobb Deep collab on group albums, every Bone Thugs collab that wasnt on group albums, i mean we are judging THE GROUP, not their albums. A song like the MGM is just as much of a Wu Tang song as a song like Assasination Day when one of them only had 2 members on a GROUP album and the other had 4 on a solo album. Any Wu collab is essentially a group song, how is it not? I understand that its one solo member featuring others, but its still Wu Tang is what it all comes down to. If you really think about it those first round of Wu solos werent really solos at all, but seemed more like group albums highlighing one member, with Rza still doing all the production. Even saying that, i am NOT counting the solo albums but a Wu song is a Wu song that has Wu members on it, plain and simple.

its not that serious lol, im judging Wu tang by the songs they make together, just as i have been judging every other group, by the songs they make together, their talent, their albums, they're overall chemistry, etc, etc.


even if this was just based on albums and talent Wu would still win tho for me pretty damn easily

even a song like "Notorious Thugs"...when i vote for Bone Thugs i take that in consideration as a Bone song even though its not even on their damn album! Theres no doubt that its still Bone and another added piece showing their group talent, group dynamic, and legacy

There's a big difference between a GROUP being featured on a song and MEMBERS of a group being featured on a song. Notorious Thugs is billed as featuring BONE. Most Wu collaborations are not billed as featuring WU, just featuring the guest emcees. I think if you want to could something as a Wu feature it should at least feature the majority of the group, which is 5 or more emcees.

That cuts down those features. I don't care what the Wu chooses to do on albums, that's their choice how they split appearances on a WU TANG album, it is still labeled a WU TANG album - by your criteria Wu-Tang GROUP albums should include Cuban Links I and II... makes no fucking sense does it?

again im not basing this on albums, its all about the work that members have done together as a group. Wu rarely has 5 members on a song. And its funny how you are considering Notorious Thugs for Bone when its a Biggie song (i do too) but then not consider a song like Glaciers of Ice Wu Tang, thats just ludicrous to me. That is Wu Tang to the fullest, Rza produced and all.

I count Tical, Return to the 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, OB4CL, Iron Man, and a few others. Why not? They all have a similar feel and sound, and feature most of the Clan on each CD. Wu is Wu.

so then we count ice cube, dr. dre, snoop, warren g, 2 pac... shit the whole death row and west coast into NWA's catalog... that seems to follow the same logic...

If it has the same feeling production and has most of the group featured on each album with features on most of the songs then by all means count them. Besides even if I didn't count those solos Wu would still win for me.
