Tim Dog - Penicillin On Wax- 4.0 (if you take this album for what it is you will enjoy this. Tim Dog sticks to the theme very well)

X Clan - Xodus- (honestly just recently heard it once so I'm not comfortable giving it a rating but its all good)

Coolio - It Takes A Thief - 3.75 (Back then I would have gave it a 4.5 but now it is 3.75 or so)

Heavy D - Nuttin' But Love- 4.5 (Tied for my fav Heavy D album)

Fesu - War With No Mercy- 4.0 (The subject matter will sound dated but one of those TX gems not to miss)

Two 5-star ratings for BDP's "Live Hardcore Worldwide"? Wow, what the hell am I missing about that one? I mean, it's definitely enjoyable IMO, but it falls just short of 4 stars because it doesn't hit you like his studio material. I hate to call it a sound/production/technology issue, but maybe that's what I feel is missing....despite great performances.

It's the best hip-hop live album ever IMO. That's why I gave it that rating.

When you have the Unplugged series - with Jay Z and the roots - the roots live album - kanye west live with an orchestra - the hilltop hoods recording their album live with a 32 piece orchestra and all these other doper live albums, both conceptually and musically, I find it hard to take seriously the opinion of someone who calls KRS One and a DAT Machine the best live album of all time.

Don't listen to ANYTHING that SRP says about KRS. He's just one wack ass hater who's too ignorant to recognize that he's one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He's just as bad as Cory is with Nas. I wipe my ass with his lame ass opinion.

I thought we had an understanding KJ?

I stated my piece on why that album is NOT the best live album of all time. Your turn to respond intelligently. Or are you going to wait for Powell to respond and then piggy back on him?

The BDP live album is great because it contains most of the best songs from his first four albums (all of which are classics IMO). The album also doesn't have the muffled sound of most live releases. He really gets the crowd pumpin and commands your attention throughout. You can hear every single word Kris is saying on this album. It's so crystal clear that on a good system, you virtually get the feeling that you are AT the show yourself.

Having seen KRS in concert before, I can honestly say that he is THE best live performer in the history of hip-hop. Between tracks, he drops a bit of knowledge on you that will make you be like "oh shit, that's deep!!!"

You say that KRS is irrelevant and doesn't get universal love, that's BULLSHIT!!! He got love in both London and Paris on this album. The man could go to ANY hip-hop venue in the world and get a standing ovation. Few live albums of ANY genre have captured the pinnacle of live music quite like this joint has.

If all that doesn't give you an understanding of why this is great, then it's clear that you are simply blinded by your hatred of the man. This is truly a masterpiece.

The BDP is not the best live hip hop album. That title would probably go to the Roots Come Alive. If I recall, the main purpose for the live album was to get the Criminal Minded material back in print. The Roots Come Alive featured an actual band in their natural habitat with Black Thought ripping the hell out of those tracks.

I enjoyed Roots come alive, but I liked the BDP joint better.

Also, Criminal Minded NEVER went out of print. The album had two purposes. One, to promote the yet-to-be released at the time Edutainment, and to show everyone how great a live performer KRS is, and they succeeded with both.

Here you go KJ. This is from Amazon.

1991 saw the release of Live Hardcore Worldwide, one of the first live hip-hop LPs. It was basically a way to get the material from Criminal Minded back in print, in a format where royalties could be collected (an ongoing dispute with B Boy Records was tying up the original recordings).

Tim Dog - Penicillin On Wax
Haven't heard this one.

Terminator X - The Valley Of The Jeep Beets
Surprisingly, it's not all that memorable, but it's good.

Boogie Down Productions - Live Hardcore Worldwide
Love this album, possibly the best live hip hop album ever.

Positive K - The Skills Dat Pay Da Bills
To this day, I haven't heard this one, but I do remember "I Got A Man", lol.

X Clan - Xodus
Very good.

Apache - Apache Ain't Shit
Haven't heard this one.

Who's The Man? - Soundtrack
I've always liked this soundtrack, and what better way to start off than with the late, great Biggie's classic "Party & Bullsh*t".

Yo Yo - You Better Ask Somebody
Haven't heard this one.

Shyheim - A/K/A The Rugged Child
Good album from Shyheim, possibly his best.

Coolio - It Takes A Thief
Surprisingly, I haven't heard the rest of the album outside of the hit singles.

Heavy D - Nuttin' But Love
Good album in 94.

Fesu - War With No Mercy
Haven't heard this one.

The D&D Project - Compilation
I like this one.
