A punchline in a really inconsequential Kanye West song that probably won't even end up on his album.

Hammer is acting like Jay went in hard on him or something. There have been numerous rappers i'm sure that has referenced Hammer's old financial situation in a song. Now he wants to get at somebody? I smell publicity stunt..................

Dude, that has nothing to do with it. The song was WACK plain and simple.
I bet if he made that about Eminem or Tech N9ne you'd say it was wack too. Hammer has never been any good on the mic, but here he comes off as a bitter old man trying to recapture past pop-bopper glory.
I doubt Jay will respond to this, but if he does he'd embarrass MC Household Tool so bad that he'd be on suicide watch.

Eminem and Tech N9ne don't start shit, and Eminem or Tech would undoubtedly respond.

You didn't clarify RAPPERS in the post I responded to.

I was referring to a RAPPERS...and I can't count how many mc's use pop singers as punchlines, it's just that Eminem does it far more often.

Yeah they would, but Jay never started shit either. Tons of MC's have dissed Hammer over the past 20 years (and did so WORSE than Jay did) it's nothing new. But I think he wanted to come at Jay because some people still look at Jay as the best rapper alive, so he'd make headlines by doing so.
He's basically trying to recapture the glory he had 20+ years ago when pop boppers and kids were bumpin his shit, and the majority of the early feedback is echoing the same sentiments. I doubt that'll change either.
Jay has nothing to gain by responding. If anything, it'd benefit Hammer if he did because negative publicity for Hammer would net him more headlines than no publicity at all. So if I were Jay, I'd just sit back and laugh at this bullshit track.

The best track I've heard in the last ten years. The video was fucking exhilarating.

I don't know what you don't get here. MC Get Busy dissing Hammer in some battle rap song me and three other people will hear isn't something to get pissed about. But when Jay-Z, who treads the same path Hammer paved commercially (and jacked a sample from him), disses him publically, I think he has the right to be insulted.
Hammer isn't trying to recapture anything, this isn't a club single or any of that bullshit. This isn't like that Mystikal soundalike bullshit he did ten years ago. I honestly believe Hammer is being sincere here, corny or not.
