Anybody have a clear cut favorite for album of the year for 2010? I'm having trouble picking an absolute leader. To me there are about 4-5 that could be deserving. I still haven't heard "1982" or the Celph/Buckwild joint. Maybe one of them will be it.

hmm, there's a handful of albums around 4.5 stars or so, but nothing definitively better than the next IMO. With a gun to my head, i would probably go with The Stimulus Package.

My top 3 are:
Mr. Sche - Immortal Thug Brotha Lynch Hung - Dinner and A Movie Term and Statik - 1982
That Term might end up my favorite though...

I'm in the same boat. I have a handful of albums at 4.5 and i can't really seperate them. Gun to the head i'd probably go with Brotha lynch just ahead of Nas/Marley, Freeway/jake one, The Roots, and Ill Bill/Muggs. Production wise i might throw Vinnie Paz in there too.

I would say Stimulus Package, but I also really liked Season of the Assassin. I think I might use December as a recap and bump only 2010 and then make my decision.

Smoov-E - El Joy Del Sexo is by far the one I listen to most. Seriously listen to this song, I just gave it props over on Amazon, It slumps so tough, so justice is not exactly done over a youtube video.

I still haven't heard a whole bunch (FYEs are gone... Best Buy sucks and is expensive... I don't feel like ordering online...), But How I Got Over has definitely taken the lead over 100 Proof. The Term & Statik could take the honor if it's as good as it sounds.

"Sir Lucious Left Foot" is far and away my top LP of 2010...something would really have to floor me in the next two months to take its crown.
"Dinner and a Movie" and "How I Got Over" are 2nd and 3rd...after that Term & Statik, yU, Nappy Roots, and Black Milk would assemble in some order.

That album would be in my top 5, but for me Cape Verde, 1982, and Big Boi's album are my top albums this year. Big Boi probably has a slight edge over Cape Verde and 1982 rounds it out.

Agreed. If this was an album it would prob be #1 for me, it's def the one I've bumped most this year.
Right now I have Pilot Talk, Sir Lucious, and How I Got Over all contending for the #1 spot.

KRIT Wuz Here IS AN ALBUM!
Don't know why people try to make a distinction... so what it was called a mixtape? It was a project of original music made by KRIT with a concept and he stuck with it... it's an album he gave out for free, but still an album.

I would agree with you, Syrup, if the album was all new songs but there were songs on there that appeared on other KRIT mixtapes. But if it does count, then that's my pick...bitch.

I recently got The Left-Gas Mask, and daaaaamn this album is nice. It's definitely creeping up there on my album of the year list. It reminds me a lot of Diamond District. Definitely check it out if you haven't.

There's a mixed and mastered version available for purchase on iTunes, I'd call it an album.

Is that shit supposed to be funny or ironic or something I'm just not getting? Or is it just supposed to be taken as is? A rapper talking about Hannah Montannah towels is just hard for me to take seriously. It is well produced though.

Smoov-E talks about under age's all the time, obviously not serious or somebodys daddy would already have him in a body cast or behind bars. It's humor on some 80's for that track, everyone I know loves that shit.

i wouldnt really call something like that a character. Its more like him just talking about shit he finds humorous is waht seems more logical. He is just rapping about what he likes/wants/feels like rapping about

Sally, have you heard his older music? No. It's serious and straightforward. Since his album Long Duck Dong (a concept album where he raps in character all the time) he's done the same kind of stuff every album.

ahh thanks for the clarification. So are these all concept albums where he is a different character? If so that sounds interesting, kind of Kool Keith-ish

It's not the same kind of stuff... it is all very different, but yes it is all in character... he has one as Rusty Squeezebox, he's a cowboy character.

For the majority of tracks on each disc, some are just straight forward normal. I get bored of the same ol', if most people got it Eli would be as big as Em.
