I noticed that a "Best Premier beat" choice was a popular one, but I'll get to that one at a later time. Regarding this new thread, well, it's all about the best openers, and in addition to casting your votes and thoughts, also let me know if I should include songs that come directly after an "Intro" (I feel it should only be actual songs that begin the albums, but I would like to know what the forum thinks.) And we begin today's choice with a classic............
Album: Run DMC - Run DMC (1984)

I don't know if this thread is going to work Wayne. Maybe the producer tournament we were discussing?

Didn't work last time, no one really had a set list of a top 50 producers. Might work now since that was about a year ago.

Likewise, I loved JYD and was sad when he passed away. I danced in the ring with him once after a match when I was a kid.
Hard Times is definitely a Top 50 opener. Peter Piper (off the Raising Hell album) would be a Top 10 opener for me.

Yeah, that was his routine usually after he won a match. He came to the Norwalk High School gym when I was like 9 or 10 and he beat Harley Race and me, my cousin, and a bunch of other kids got in the ring and danced with him when his theme song "Grab Them Cakes" came on. It was awesome!

Wayne, even though I would be the only one to vote for it, I would like to nominate Twista's "Victory or Death" off of his compilation album, Twista Presents Legit Ballin. At least check out the track, it's fuckin fire! He's always had a knack for good opening tracks, IMO.

yo Wayne quick question...do the album openers have to be the first track? or just the first song?

This question I initially asked in the opening of the thread, basically to get the thoughts from the rest of the forum.

hmm, i would probably include the songs that are technically track 2 but are OBVIOUSLY the album opener. So if there's only a spoken word intro then i think number 2 should be the opener. If there is distinctly original music in the intro then it gets tricky

That's all I needed to hear Slang, and going forward, I know exactly how to do the threads. This thread may end up becoming the top 75 album openers, lol.

Iron Galaxy by Cannibal Ox needs to be nominated
i would also nominate "Peep My Words" off Sean Price's Monkey Barz...not sure how many votes it would get tho but thats one of my favorite ways to kick off an album
