I'm not much of a soccer fan to be honest, but if the World Cup ever came to NYC I would absolutely go. Especially to see a Team USA game live. Some of my friends like soccer, I'd be rockin a Vuvuzala and the whole nine yards! And where the fuck is Qatar? |

| Qatar is an oil rich nation in the middle east if I recall.
The last time the world cup was held here attendance and enthusiasm was lacking... that and the US tends to have venues very far away and very little true soccer stadiums... not the best place... |

| well, it's dissapointing because MLS was partly meant to turn the US into a soccer country with a league providing yearly enthusiasm, dedicated stadiums, player recognition, etc. MLS has failed miserably for the most part in doing any of that. Beckham in LA couldn't turn the country into soccer fans, there are still no real soccer stadiums, and most people still don't care.
For my money, I would prefer to save the same amount of money plus hotel and air fare and get to visit qatar or russia and experience the cup at the same time. |

| I'm a little bummed about it. I was hoping Holland/Belgium might pull off their bid so I could return there. If it was in England I would have considered going as well since I have plenty of family to stay by. As for the US it really is a shock. When it was here in 94 I did go to it but I was too young to really remember. I doubt a passion for soccer will ever grow in this country and I'm fine with it. It would be amazing if it ever got to the levels of the big 3 sports here but that won't happen until this whole nation is overrun by immigrants (halfway there I suppose). The MLS as a whole is really quite a joke. Substandard levels of play by substandard athletes with a few former stars sprinkled in. Its pitiful to watch. | |
