| vs. A co-worker asked me this question and asked me to get y'all opinion. Which was bigger? As far as its effect on the mainstream, rap music, style or whatever. | |

| I'm going with The Chronic also.
The Chronic set a tone in hip hop in motion. And it forever changed the status of the west coast and gangster rap. I do feel though that Doggystyle was waaay more anticipated and had more steam out the gate than Chronic. But thats only because The Chronic set it up for success.

| The Chronic, it set the template and was the album that put the West on top of the hip-hop scene back in 1992. Doggystyle was huge as well, but the Chronic was the album that made Dr Dre AND Snoop Dogg household names. | |

| Without The Chronic there is no Doggystyle.
So, yeah... | |

| The Chronic has to win this. The Chronic IS the west coast. That being said, I wouldn't blame anyone for picking Doggystyle. Snoop's smooth flow over Dre's beats were an unbeatable combo on either album.
On a side note...I have both these albums ranked higher than 2001 but I spin and enjoy that one the most. Does anyone else feel that way?

Yeah I agree. 2001 is classic and the production is just as good as the aforementioned albums, but Chronic and Doggystyle have more classic songs so for that reason I enjoy those two more.

| I listen to Doggy more so Snoop.
However I see folks saying Chronic since it did introduce many to a slew of artists including Snoop.
Chronic said it and Doggystyle confirmed it.

| No brainer. The Chronic had the biggest impact. But personally, I prefer Doggystyle but a fair margin. | |

| Both of these albums are in my top 10, but I gotta go with The Chronic on this one as the bigger album and making more of an impact. | |
