Sounds like a perfectly sane comment to me. Paid In Full has always banged more IMO. Just look at the first cut "Ain't No Joke". There is no song on CM that matches the bangingness of it. Just look at the beats. Shit was WAY better on Paid In Full. CM sounded old for 1987 for crying out loud.

I don't agree with that at all. While I like Paid In Full slightly better, both of these are Top 10 albums of all time to me. As for "I Ain't No Joke" I love that song but I'd take "The Bridge Is Over" over it easily. I hear people taking the samples from that song, Criminal Minded, South Bronx, and a few other songs from that album even today so I don't see how it can be dated. This forum is the first place ever where I've heard anyone say that.

I'd say the production on "Grip It On That Other Level" sounds dated as hell even though I like that album, not to mention Kris' superior lyricism to the GB's.

I'm speaking purely on production. All of the BDP albums had MUCH better production than CM IMO. Paid In Full is just killing it with the beats...I've always thought so.

I was just giving you shit Kev, don't take it personally. I do feel KRS is a better lyricist than anybody in GB's though, and that CM isn't dated based on what I said in my previous post.

KRS is not a better lyricist than Face. Neither are world beaters IMO. I'd say they are relatively even and similar to be honest. Their impact is in their message and not their lyricism. Rakim would crush KRS and Face with his rhyme skills, but nothing he rhymes about really sticks with me the way KRS and Face do.

Lyricism is about line for line dopeness. Rakim simply drops doper lines than Face. I got no problem with you liking Face better, but Rakim is clearly the better lyricist. Everything Terry said was 100% correct man. It's just that the stan in you refuses to realize that.

What you rap about is not lyricism. What you rap about is subject matter, and Face takes that category easily. Face has never wowed people word for word, or bar for bar. It's never been about how he says it. It's always been about what he says. The problem you are having is that you have a very different definition of lyricism than me and others. you are woefully confused my friend. I don't think Rakim is advanced by any means in today's landscape, but it's not like Face is an MC of today. He's damn near a peer of Rakim's. Face's rhymes are basic. you very rarely see internals an/or multi's in Face's rhymes. Everything about him is straight forward. He doesn't confine himself to making words fit. He's about the bigger picture, which IMO is the story the story telling, but that does still not equate to lyricism IMO.
