| His rapping on this album is very good, but it feels much less spontaneous and natural than on his first 3 Aftermath albums. It comes off as very formulaic. It's also just kind of pathetic that he's nearing 40, and is still reduced to spitting this immature shit, no matter how well he does it.
Dre's production is of course preferable to Eminem handling production duties, but I think Dre's style has gotten sort of stale and predictable. It works, but it doesn't sound fresh at all, and it doesn't really elevate the album.
So, I'd say 3.5. Good album, but flawed.

| Eminem and Dre clearly have much more skill, but that doesn't mean every piece of music they make is going to be automatically superior. Right now, they're both spinning their wheels, rehashing stuff they've done much better before. So no, this album is no Brooklynati to me. | |

I actually agree with you Jason that was a good sum up but I still give it 4.0 because it was a good album. |

It's definitely not a classic IMO as Em's first two albums were clearly better, but it's dope nonetheless. |

| Nobody, except possibly a few top artists, having more than 1 or 2 classics is perfectly reasonable to me, that should be a very reserved label. In fact, while there are some artists involved in groups and having solo careers, who may pass 1 or 2 classic album between solo and group projects combined (I'm think Ice Cube, Scarface), I don't know if any one artistic entity has more than 2 true classics. | |

Well your lover 2Pac has 4 classics according to you, so tell that bullshit story walking. I never said that someone can't have more than 2 classics. I can think of several that do. How is that stupid logic? You're the ONLY person I know (on or offline) that feels that Relapse is a classic. In my opinion, it's not. I can't stand the songs We Made You, My Mom, and Insane. I skip them whenever I spin that album hence I don't feel it's a classic. I can bang every single song on MMLP and SSLP without skipping, hence they are classics IMO. Plain and simple. |

| Interesting. I could see Run-DMC, KRS-One if you count BDP and his solo work. Maybe Gangstarr, but I'd lean towards no. Scarface only if you count the Geto Boys stuff also. Same with Ice Cube, only if NWA is counted. The rest, I disagree with. | |

So you don't think Yo Bumrush The Show, Let The Rhythm Hit Em, Do You Want More, Southernplayalistic, and People's Instinctive Travels are classics? |

But, in all the cases, except Let the Rhythm Hit Em, I see those as stepping stones to classic albums, where they just had a little further to go, and the next albums were sufficiently superior to say those ones aren't quite classic.

I actually prefer Southernplayalistic to ATLiens, but I agree with you in the cases of the other debuts that I named. That said, I stand by my opinion that all those albums I named are classics because all the songs on them are superb and can be played without skipping. Just like Off The Wall by Michael Jackson is a classic IMO, it isn't as good as Thriller but it's still a classic. |

| Kool John at times you struggle so mightily. You used flawed logic for your anti-classic stance. You say Eminem has two albums which are better. Okay, sure. So you think Nas has what, 4 classics? 2 of the 4 must be better than the other 2, so those other 2 can't be classics by your logic, right?
Also, Stillmatic can't be a classic, and a lot of your other favorites can't be, because you have said before you skip at least one, if not two tracks on Stillmatic. You can't have it both ways, so which is it? |

Also, Stillmatic can't be a classic, and a lot of your other favorites can't be, because you have said before you skip at least one, if not two tracks on Stillmatic. You can't have it both ways, so which is it? How the fuck is my logic flawed???? I CLEARLY stated why I feel Relapse is not a classic. It has 3 tracks on it that I clearly can't stand. I can spin the SSLP and MMLP without skipping a track. As for Stillmatic, the only track I have always skipped on it is "Braveheart Party", but the reissue of the album doesn't even have Braveheart Party on it. Therefore it's a classic IMO. Sure, I occasionally skip tracks on albums BUT it's not because those songs are wack, it's just that at times I'm in the mood to hear certain tracks more than others. Take Lost Tapes for example. I sometimes skip "Everybody's Crazy" but I can stand to listen to it. I can't stand to listen to "My Mom" or "We Made You" on Relapse though. Illmatic is without question Nas' best album, but I can listen to It Was Written, The Lost Tapes, and Stillmatic without skipping a track. Just like Thriller is Michael Jackson's best album, but I can listen to Off The Wall and Bad without skipping a track as well. If you feel that Relapse is a classic, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion but in my opinion it's not. I hope everything I just said clears things up for you. If not, then I don't know what to tell you. |

The Predator is better than AMW by a hair, IMO. It has 3 of my favorite Cube tracks in "Now I Gotta Wet 'Cha", "The Predator", and "Check Yo Self"
BTW, I give Relapse around a 4.25
