Even though it probably shouldn't count, I'll give the last spot to Thin Red Line. The rest of his movies don't interest me at all.

| KJ, i can't believe Travolta is top 10 in your book. There's far too many other actors out there. De Niro? Pacino? Denzel? Russell Crowe? Sidney Portier? Di Caprio? Depp? Tom Hanks? Morgan Freeman? Sean Penn? Daniel Day Lewis? Edward Norton? Will Smith? Joe Pesci? This isn't even including all time greats like Newman, Heston, Brando, and a host of others. To each their own, but damn i just don't see it. | |

Well my list changes on given days. My Top 4 is undisputed though.... Morgan Freeman Robert DeNiro Al Pacino Denzel Washington After that it's interchangable. While John Travolta objectively isn't as skilled as most of the guys you've mentioned, I can honestly say that I enjoy the majority of his movies. Travolta on a given day could make my Top 10, he might be more like Top 20 if I actually sat down and made a list though. A few other actors on my GOAT list that probably don't belong objectively are Sly Stallone, Samuel L Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, and Robert Downey Jr (not necessarily in that order) So basically my GOAT actor list is similar to a lot of your GOAT rapper lists. Some surprises, but diverse nonetheless.

Yeah I dig The Thin Red Line too. As others have mentioned it's definitely more about character development and narrative than action, which is a good way to do a war movie in my book.

and a few others I'm forgetting are all ahead of Travolta for me personally..... Ving Rhames ain't fuckin with John Travolta AT ALL. He has neither the resume or acting range. I know it's all opinion but I'm just not seeing it. There's a few others you listed that I like Travolta better than as well, but Rhames is the WTF pick. I think he's in more good movies than Travolta. I disagree, Pulp Fiction and Face Off alone trump Rhames' career. Rhames was in Pulp Fiction and had a big role...
Face/Off is one of Woo's worst films... Yes he was, but Travolta had a BIGGER role, and Face/Off is a PHENOMEONAL film. Travolta was great in it, and it did for Nicolas Cage what Matrix did for Keanu Reeves (in other words, it was each actor's defining roles).

Yeah once you see his older stuff and even his more popular stuff like Hard Boiled you really can't help but be disappointed by it. Exactly. Hard Boiled is hands down my favorite action movie. When I first saw Face/Off I was expecting it to have a 50000000 kill count.

- KJ, i can't believe Travolta is top 10 in your book. There's far too many other actors out there. De Niro? Pacino? Denzel? Russell Crowe? Sidney Portier? Di Caprio? Depp? Tom Hanks? Morgan Freeman? Sean Penn? Daniel Day Lewis? Edward Norton? Will Smith? Joe Pesci? This isn't even including all time greats like Newman, Heston, Brando, and a host of others. To each their own, but damn i just don't see it.
gotta agree with this
Travolta is top 30 for me but
Denzel Sean Penn Pacino DeNiro Tom Hanks Morgan Freeman Danny Glover Will Smith Russell Crowe Samuel Jackson Leo DiCaprio Don Cheadle Jack Nicholson Martin Sheen Dennis Hopper Ving Rhames Bruce Willis
and a few others I'm forgetting are all ahead of Travolta for me personally..... Ving Rhames ain't fuckin with John Travolta AT ALL. He has neither the resume or acting range. I don't think Travolta had much of a bigger role...Rhames had less screen time, sure, but he played a main character and was involved in one of the most infamous movie scenes of all time. He also had much more memorable quotes in my opinion. As for Face/Off, I really don't think it was Cage's defining role. The Rock, Raising Arizona, Snake Eyes, Lord of War, etc...he was in many more interesting roles.

Yeah I dig The Thin Red Line too. As others have mentioned it's definitely more about character development and narrative than action, which is a good way to do a war movie in my book. That shit was boring. I didn't care about the characters at all. Whatever message the Director was trying to convey was lost. Redline was so boring it made Jarhead look like Platoon. I was mad I saw it in the theaters. I think I phased out at one point. Redline was a noun in search of a verb.
