Since we are about to be at the midway point for 2011 what are our top 5 fav albums from this year so far? The other thread is clustered and not many are talking about what albums they have really been feeling. So I want to see where some of you are at.

I just spinned that Pharoahe rencently and it sounded better than before. I already like it more than Desire. That Quik is dope but still not on the level I think it could have been. Its in my top 10 maybe 5 after I put some thought in it. That Cunn is real good and i'll take it over that Saigon and Fab.

Sweatshop Union - The Bill Murray EP
Cunninlynguists - Oneirology
DC The Midi Alien - Avengers Airwaves
Swollen Members - Dagger Mouth
Del - Golden Era (etc.)

There's a few that I still want to hear at some point, but I've listened to the ones that were higher on my priority list.

I have heard so many good albums this year that its hard for me to narrow down a definitive top 5. But here's the 5 that stand out the most:

Big KRIT- Return Of 4eva
Bro Lynch- Coathanga Strangla
Raekwon- Shaolin vs. Wu
DJ Quik- Book of David
Reks- REKS

I've heard 82 2011 rap albums so far. It will be 84 if I ever get around to listening to those 2 Big Jess downloads that Pounds linked up. Where are you guys @? That new 4-Tay, just moved into my top 10 on one spin (You R&B heads will jock). That Joe Blow & Berner are gonna be tough to remove from my top 2.

Hmm, there's been a lot of nice releases this year. Rae is my favorite so far, but Oneirology, Avengers Airwaves, The Book Of David, and a few others aren't too far behind.

We won't be at the midway point of 2011 for another month.

Anyway, top 5 right now looks something like:

DJ Quik's "The Book of David"
Brotha Lynch Hung's "Coathanga Strangla"
Joell Ortiz's "Free Agent"
Talib Kweli's "Gutter Rainbows"
Big K.R.I.T.'s "Return of 4eva"

Honorable mention: Has-Lo's "In Case I Don't Make It." 2011 is beastly.

Powell where you at? I really want to see what you have been checking out for this year. You have been quiet on the new album subjects.

Haven't checked for much this year but here's my top 5.

REKS "R.E.K.S."
Brotha Lynch "Coathanga Strangla"
Raekwon "Shaolin vs Wu"
Cunninlynguists "Oneirology"
Saigon "Greatest Story"

I could take out the Saigon and insert the Quik album. I was late getting the Quik and it's still soaking in.

June 14th is a big day for me with Bad Meets Evil, Random Axe, and Vakill all coming out.
