| His presence in the game was equally loved and hated. His introduction to spearheaded the South's takeover of Hip-Hop as the dominant sound. He made the whole indie thing look sheik again where as before folks many were simply happy to be signed. His label's cut was above and beyond the standard. If I remember correctly No Limit got 85% via their distribution deal. He paved the way for folks like Cash Money and a slew of Southern Rappers who followed. His detractors to him and the No Limit Movement as a cancer of Hip-Hop. In my personal opinion I believe his two greatest weaknesses were oversaturation and lack of quality control.
Does that clarify the controversial remark?

Does that clarify the controversial remark? Not really. But thanks. I think it is what it is with him. Now the deal he got was a rarity no doubt and could be controversial in the business world eyes so I give you that. The rest? No.

Don't deny his Cali experience at all. It was his proving ground and he took that success back to the N.O. and blew up. You had folks like E-40 who translated their local hustle to national hustle however most didn't. And when P returned unfortunately most of his Cali roster didn't get to share in that success. Few people in the game have milked it like P and that goes beyond the rap genre.
