Random Axe

I think the album is dope. Black Milk's production and Guilty Simpson are really the stars of the album though.

I got that $2 mp3 offer last night but I haven't listened to it yet. I'll do that in a bit and come back with my thoughts.

My complaint is that out of the 13 actual songs 3 of them are under 2 minutes and one is a little over 2 minutes. It's still quality though.

I enjoy the album.... Black Milk is turning more and more into a Dilla/Madlib clone though. And the songs are too short and album sort of disjointed.

I find myself enjoying this sort of stuff for what it is for a short while, but something about it never sticks to me like I feel it should.

I was never a Guilty fan, but this album might change that. I bumped this last night during cards, and liked what I heard. I will give it a full listen soon

I'm really happy with this album. I can pretty much listen to it straight thru. I'll never get opinions from the message board at UGHH again. They must just hate on everything or something. Dope album.

Yeah after one listen all the way through this is what I feel like. Black Milk doesn't let his beats really get loud on here, and I'm assuming that is to allow for the rapping to take center stage. But Sean P and Guilty sound like they want to glide with the beat when they rap - never really high energy, more focused on being smooth and laid back. Also, I've never had a problem with Black Milk on the mic but when he raps before or after Sean or Guilty he really sounds out of place. My favorite track on here has to be Random Call by a large margin. A good balance of beats and rapping, the MCs sound hungry, and there's a lot of energy. The rest of the album doesn't really reach the same balance. Also, best guest appearance goes to Rock, who bested everyone on Another One. I'll need to listen to it again before rating it. Good, but not great.

Yeah this LP would have really been impressive with that combo.

To be fair, I haven't listened to this and might not for a bit... but I'm sure I can think of about a dozen more interesting combinations. This lineup just seems oddball to me... to the point where I'm barely interested.

I'd actually be more interested in a Black, Elzhi, Royce album too. I'm a huge Guilty fan and would be perfectly happy if he sticked with Madlib cuz I love that OJ Simpson album. Sean P is just whatever for me. He's good but I find him kinda boring.

Random Axe sits at a 3.75/5 after 3 listens..solid, but not something that'll stay on repeat long..didn't feel Milk's beats were stellar..kinda predictable, but not in a way that holds my interest like a signature premo beat, or statik's style..that's just me tho

I have mixed feelings about this album. I like Milk's beats and the flows all sound good over them but I don't seem to want to bump this over and over. When its on, its dope but when its off, I don't feel like putting it back on. Something is missing. Personally I think P steals the show with his personality. Guilty can bust but sounds bored at times and Milk is just ok on the mic among other better emcees. I love the that P mater-of-factly says he's gonna smack your moms or some shit. These ears would have preferred to listen to Mic Tyson, if it ever drops.

I have this around a 4.25/4.5 after 10 or so spins. I can see it losing replay value, but it hasn't yet
