im gonna vote for PR and CL to make this interesting...it is pretty much a coin flip though. Mecca is more consistent throughout to me, and has the highest high, but Chronic has more highs in general

Pete & CL. I didn't think I'd be voting for this album as much as I have.

I voted for The Chronic, but like Highsmith said I wouldn't be upset with Mecca winning as it ranks almost as high with me. These are my two favorite albums from 1992.

How is Mecca & The Soul Brother not regional, I don't know anybody that ever played that. I listened to that TROY song a while back when you guys were all talking about it, I'd never heard it before, and it sounds to me the same way an E-40 song sounds to you...not good.

these are basically 2 equal albums in quality IMO....either one that wins is going to beat either one of the other 2 (Redman or Spice 1) IMO, so this is essentially the battle for the best album of 1992 right here.....

Wow, just wow.....I know Pete and CL aren't for everybody (although they appeal to more than they don't) but you're the first person I know that's said that TROY isn't a good song. I pretty much knew your rap taste sucked from jump street, but this officially confirms it. I don't care who comes to your defense, but there's nothing wack about that song whatsoever.

As for Mecca not being regional, well it's widely regarded as a classic unlike any E-40 album since you threw him into the conversation. Fuck record sales, the vast majority of people that own and/or have heard Mecca consider it classic.

They Reminisce Over You - Pro Review By Half

Man I love this sarcastic track. The lyrics say it all - "they reminisce over you". The guy isn't around any more, and his memory is exploited to make a laid-back chart topper by Pete Rock & CL Smooth. The guy is dead, and they are still getting money off of this joint. These guys took cynicism and misanthropy to a new level and I gotta give them props for it. Unfortunately I can only give this 4.9 stars, so it will never have classic status because I am paid to do this shit, so my opinion is objectively the greatest.

To join in on the discussion, I do feel that these albums are right on par with each other. My tiebreaker personally was which one do I spin more now and that is The Chronic. However, I don't feel that 1 album smashes the other in no way shape or form. I agree that whoever wins this matchup will slaughter Redman or Spice 1 in the final round.

Co-Sign 100%, It's cool that 3 out of my Top 5 albums of 1992 made it to the semis, and two of them are gonna square off in the finals.
