he's top 100 for me
his first two albums were classics IMO, he really helped to bring out the production of hip-hop superproducer Howie Tee, who has worked with Heavy D and Chubb Rock to name a few...also his dj Akshun did some production with Biggie and Jr.Mafia so there has been other contributions outside of their own stuff...Ed was one of the original owners of a recording studio back in the dayz in Brooklyn, where alot of joints came out've, also his album in 1995 was a 4 star effort IMO, and let's not forget his memorable appearance on the Crooklyn Dodgers joint with Masta Ace and Buckshot
he's top 100 for me easily

His first album is a classic, and I'd venture to say his second is as well, even though I like the debut more. And as Powell pointed out, "Revelations" was solid.
"I mean he could rap no [doubt] but not top 100 rap..lol."
Gotta disagree there. His flow and rapping is what puts him at top 100 for me. Smooth like butter.

Top 100. Youngest In Charge is without question a classic. Legal and Revelations were bangers as well. He remained relevant until about 95-96. Mad classic hits, and his verse in Crooklyn Dodgers was excellent.
What "Mad" classic hits does he have? Please share.
I Got It Made I'm The Magnificent Think About It Come On, Let's Move It The Mission Crooklyn Dodgers
Those are all classics IMO as well. The whole first album is to me though. I realize they aren't real big hits though. "Hoedown" is still my favorite Special Ed song.

Hoedown is dope. I just listed the Special Ed songs that charted. My personal fav song by him is I'm The Magnificent.

I Got It Made and The Magnificent are his only major hits man, The Mission was a liked not loved by hip hop fans and the rest must was regional. Crooklyn Dodgers has Buckshot and Masta Ace on it so trust me Special Ed was not the driving force.

So what? Since when does an artist have to have huge hits to make it in the top 100? At least he has hits. Plenty of newer underground cats have already been voted in and they don't have any substantial hits at all. And last time I checked, you've voted on more than one regional artist top 50-100...at least.

Whoa Alan...lol. Sorry I struck a nerve man. I was just saying that those few singles were not enough for me to vote him top 100. And he is not a fav of mine at all so of course other regional artist would get in before him for me.

LOL - no nerve was struck. Does it really read that way? lol
I'm just saying that we could use the same argument for artists you voted in. I mainly voted for him because of his excellent lyricism and quality of his albums. His hits don't even enter into my mind because I like the album tracks even more than those. I mean, have you heard "Youngest In Charge"? Very original and different for east coast golden age hip-hop IMO. The aesthetic and vibe of the album always held a lot of individuality IMO.

OK. So you really know very little about Special Ed then. If you had heard it (and "Legal"), you'd probably realize why people give the man props and feel he's top 100.
powell he is easily a neither because oc is way more skilled, has way better subject matter, oc is still relevant today, oc was part of one of the best crews of all time, and has a better discog...easy enough for you baby bubba?

Are you sticking with that explanation?? are you sure man??
Are you completely aware of Special Ed's career? lyrically O.C. maybe slightly better and I do mean ever so slighty, meaning it's not terribly noticeable and certainly not noticeable enough to talk about, then I have to start looking at overall accomplishments in the game and this is were Ed is killing O.C. and quite easily too.....Ed's first two joints were classics my dude, personal and consensus...his joint "Relevations" was a damn Relevation..it was at least 4 stars, his appearance on Crooklyn Dodgers was classic and he more than held his own and then some up against Buckshot and Masta Ace......
go re-visit Ed my dude, you may actually see what I'm talking about...lol

I would venture to say that Special Ed is close to legendary status...not too sure I could say the samething about O.C....his song "Times Up" is in legendary status but the artist leaves much to be desired as far as being a legend....Ed is thought of in those terms my dude

Nah, I'll check it out. Thanks man.
Oh, and BTW...
Special Ed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> O.C.
I think OC is a better lyricist but Special Ed has a better catalog.
Hmmm, I was judging based on lyricism as well. I think Special Ed definitely beats O.C. in that department, but I suppose they are pretty close. Both discogs are very comparable IMO.

Yeah it's close. O.C.'s got the best song between both of them in Times Up, but Special Ed's got the best album between the two in Youngest In Charge. Word...Life is on the same level, I just like YIC slightly more.
I'd also say O.C.'s got the best guest appearance between the two with his verse from Organized Konfusion's Fudge Pudge. Everything else though (noteriety, flow, impact) goes to Special Ed.

Yeah, OC definitely takes the guest spots. For Special Ed, besides "Crooklyn" the only other substantial one I can think of was off of the Bustin' Melonz album "Watch Ya Seeds Pop Out" from 1994 (dope cut and dope album BTW). I see he was listed on Prince Paul's debut solo album but I only got that on cassette and don't feel like cueing it up...lol...though it must not be big because I don't even remember it. Ah, I also see he appeared (also as a producer) on Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s "Conspiracy" album.
