You ever get the feeling that working for others seems like you're begging for money?

I've had that feeling at several other jobs I was unsatisfied with in the past, and I thought I'd post a new topic because I didn't want to jack the Amazon selling thread.

Basically, any job somebody else pays you for is worth your pay plus whatever they profit from your time.

Capitalism, socialism, yadayada.

It's all the same. Everyone works for somebody who has more.

You and your jokes
cosign Shaun.

Anyways.

Cosign Kid Joe, but I'm saying that the whole rat race thing gets really old and tiresome after a while. It seems like a re occuring theme with people from my generation. The folks I run into are not the types to spend 25-40+ years at a job, and putting up with their shit so they could get a pay check. They do a lot of job hopping, which also sucks because who wants to be a 40 year old in a temp agency looking for work. It sounds like a shitty life to live.

Run to the mountains and learn to fish and chop wood. I've thought about it myself.

I'm personally trying to focus on getting paid doing what I like. I NEED to go back to school for film. I rather be on the bottom rung climbing in a field I'm interested in rather than at the top of something I don't give a shit about. I knew co-worker older than me and I was his Boss. It was so weird. I don't want to be that guy. I want to own something and answer to no one other than maybe my CUSTOMER. Not the stores. There is a way to get paid to do mundane stuff that you like to do anyway. It's just having the ambition to pursue it. I'm working on revamping myself. Next year I don't want to live in Bankhead. I get to see trifling mess all day. Break open a pack of something and then ask can I buy these individually? No motherfucker that's why we had them sealed in a pack! Minor to WTF. I saw a kid hit his older brother in the head with a stick the size of club. Dude bleeding and then he's like my bad. His brother ask why did you do that? IDK. WTF

That has crossed my mind as well.

Being self sufficient is something I'm constantly exploring and trying to grow in.

LMAO@ people opening a pack of something and asking if they can buy individual piece. I used to see shit like that in StL. As far as the kids go, I knew some kids like that. It really makes you wonder what kind of people are being raised by who. Cosign the rest of your story. I happen to be the boss of a bunch of people who are older than me. Sometimes it sucks, but you just need to keep it very professional at all times. Plus they need to be know that just because you are old, doesn't mean you automatically get respect. You have to give it to get it. Most of them understand, and act like they have some sense, but there's always one who acts ig'nant.

And you wonder why I have a fascination with Native Americans. Its like that guy from Zeitgeist said: Once you punch that clock you enter into a dictatorship. Why do you think I'm a cab driver? Sure I do work for my fares but they can't really boss me or I'll kick em out and tell them to find another cab. I see the fruits of my labor daily.

Trotter's in fruit labor everyday. Do you deliver your fruit in traffic, or do you get to the hospital in time?

Payment upon delivery of service is a great feeling. The Boss always gets paid first. DT do you own your cab or rent it?

I own. I just drive around and listen to music and the fact Im American helps me cause some people don't wanna fuck wit foreign cabbies that don't know English too good. The money is a see saw though. Some days better than others. It takes self disipline though since no one is forcing you to work. Very easy to be distracted especially if you already raked in 200 in less than 5 hours. Here in Indianapolis its easy to be a owner unlike Chicago or NewYork.

AWESOME!

You do anything else for additional income?

Say, A. Scott I know you're one of the few on here that makes homemade beer, is there any place you can legally sell it?

I'd have to get a liquor licence to sell it, plus there are tons of requirements I'd need in order to get qualified for it. I wish I could though.

I'd make a killing off of selling mead.

It's a possibility, but there are severall fines associated with doing it without the proper requirements. Those alone take a lot of dollars. If I was made of money, I would.

I take it that you do graphic design?

I know it can be very stressful, especially around tax season, but having that freedom is priceless.

a scott, there are probably commercial kitchens available for rent in your area. Any restaurant is sufficient, actually, if they are willing.

They are already inspected and certified by your local Health Dept.

The same Health Dept. probably grants 'processing' licenses after a brief course. This is necessary (in NYS) for packaging any product meant for consumption.

They may or may not get into storage requirements while fermenting, etc. Otherwise your state's Liquor Authority may dictate. They would require you to register for tax purposes, anyway.

It's funny you should mention that. My man and I went to a bar last Saturday, and they had a local drink called "Underground". It tastes like Jager but is smoother and cheaper. It's distilled, and bottled locally. I might be able to look into that a bit closer.
