| So I'm a huge Madlib fan and the dude has seriously been on fire this year. The SAS album and Guilty album are up there for my album of the year. He has also done a couple jazz albums and of coarse his Medicine Show series this year.
So I guess what I'm wondering is what has everyone heard from him this year and what are your rankings?

| ummmm... I don't even know if the ones i have are from this year... I heard the guilty simpson joint, SAS, the beat konducta 1-2, 5-6. and Wigflip Radio.... I've heard people say he's wearing himself real thin with all his medicine shows |

| I've wanted to check the ish he's put out this year, but I've been broke. I always thought he was a dope producer, but never really anything I've been anticipating | |

Yeah, I could see how people would think he is wearing himself thin with the Medicine Shows but I think some people aren't as open minded and thought all the releases would be straight up hip hop....which they aren't. Like his Medicine Show Flight To Brazil album is not hip hop at all but it is an incredible album IMO.

| I think he's putting out too much material. The Strong Arm Steady and Guilty Simpson albums are dope, but I'm not really feeling the few Medicine Show albums I've heard.
I am looking forward to Madvillainy 2 though. I hope it comes out this year.

| i dont think hes putting out too much....
if you think about it only 6 of the Medicine Show albums are original material (some of them are old beat comps) and the other 6 are just sounds/songs that have influenced him usually from a diff region of the world

| All I have is Madvillainy. It's not great, to me. It kind of sounds like he was trying to hard to accommodate Doom.
Where should I look to get a better picture of what he's all about?

| I love Beat Konducta 1-2 and Beat Konducta 5-6. If you want something other than beat tapes then the Strong Arm Steady album that came out this year is excellent and so is the OJ Simpson album but some people get tired of the skits on that one. I would also check out Quasimoto-The Unseen. | |

Where should I look to get a better picture of what he's all about? might as well start from the beginning and get Lootpack - Soundpieces: Da Antidote i cosign Gametheory on the Beat Konducta stuff and Quasimoto stuff. and to answer gametheory's other question, i have only heard Medicine shows 3 and 5. Vol. 5 is my favorite between those two, i think its incredible actually, the beginning chunk of the "Episode" songs are some of the best. Static Invazion and Last Days Music are also some of my favorites. I think Vol. 3 is also really dope, i have to give it more spins but im really feelin it. Im kinda hoping they release a 12 disc box set at the end of the year with all of them...

| Yeah, I want a box set... it'd probably be cheaper than paying 15 bucks per pop over the year. |

| That's my main problem keeping up with Madlib... his shit is strictly order online or in indie stores and none of it is cheaper than 14.99 anywhere I've looked... online is closer to 13-14 bucks shipped, but still not cheap. |

| I really don't think they would announce a box set until some time next year anyways... announcing it now would kill their sales for the rest of the year. |

| Cosign Slang on Vol. 3 and Vol. 5. I think my favorite though is Vol. 2. It's a crazy mix of a Brazilian music and it's real chill. I haven't heard vol. 4 or 7 yet. I wasn't really feeling Vol. 6 though. It had its moments but overall I couldn't really get into it. | |

| I only copped vol 1 from the Medicine Show and that shit was dope as hell. Madlib and Guilty make a deadly combo. | |
