| We crucify southern cheerleaders for showing the south favoratism but the Minn. hip hop heads like Alan do the same thing. I find Minn. hip hop nothing spectacular and quite bland. Not saying its terrible but nothing from there floors me. You really have run-of-the-mill rap acts who sound like Heiroglyphics. Lyrically they're almost on the same level as the south, Sure their CONTENT is more positive but strictly going on rhyming skills they're bout par. Minn. will never produce a Immortal Tech, Megalon or a Celph Titled. The only thing Minn rappers got going fr them is that they're from Minn. You can take the same rapper put him somewhere else and minn. heads wont notice him. Even beat wise they're not all that great. They just seem to have alot of fanboys.IDK, maybe I'm missing something. But if the Minn. produce nothing but gangster rap, then Minn hh heads will be wanneba gangstas, They're just blindy supporting their movement. The positive thing is that this rap gets its listeners open to true hip hop. The same way southern crunk gets its listeners about to other sorts of gangsta rap and pop-boppery. But they ultimately show a biased allegiance to Minn. rap. That's why Minn rap heads tend to only favor jazzy hip hop from other coast. Something similar to their hometown's sound. | |

| I'd agree with your entire post if you replaced "Minn" with "NY" and "Heiro" with "Rakim". "Immortal Tech, Megalon, Celph Titled" with "K Rino, Tech N9ne, Or Bizzy Bone". |

| There goes Nero crying again. You can't compare Minn. to NY. Even on an underground level they still dont have much of an impact. I know hh heads that dont even know Minn hiphop exist. NERO hates NY and Black people. | |

| N3RO, what the fuck are you smokin dude! Now all of a sudden you're hating on East Coast hip-hop???? Dude, if it weren't for the East Coast, Hip-Hop would have NEVER seen the light of day. So for you to say that shit is straight up ridiculous!
If you wanna lash out at Trotter for dissin Minnesota hip-hop, then that's fine. But don't bite the hand that fed the rap game to begin with. If it weren't for guys like Rakim and Run-DMC, they'd be no Haystak, Sandman, or Atmosphere. So you seriously need to check yourself, dogg. |

EDIT: The fact that Haystak ain't selling has nothing to do with him being from the South, he ain't sellin because he sucks ass! |

That was irrelevant. Also, are you saying K-Rino sucks? Vakill sucks? Basically anyone dropping albums in this day in age suck because they don't sell? I never said that Shawn. I think that N3R0 is being a crybaby for blaming Nas and Ghost for niggas in the South not sellin. I was just saying that Haystak sucks. I think Vakill is AWESOME and I respect K-Rino (although I think many in this forum overrate him). But myself and others have tried to be logical with N3RO regarding this issue and he's still on his "Fuck NY" menstral cycle. K-Rino has been around for YEARS and hasn't sold much. In fact, he's been rhyming LONGER than Nas and Ghost have. So there's no way that he can attribute his lack of sales to HHID or Ghost dissin D4L. I mean seriously, D4L is wack! Nobody on here likes them, not even SRP who likes most cats from the South, so I don't know why N3RO is hatin on him. But it's whatever. He's the one being a myopic douchebag. New York is, was, and always will be the Mecca of hip-hop whether he or anybody else likes it or not. |

| New York is the Mecca of hip hop, that is a fact.
N3R0 isn't blaming them for the South to not selling. He's blaming them for people not checking out underground southern artists. Sales have no merit in this conversation. In all honesty, sales mean absolutely nothing, except for how many people know a certain artist.
In any way, sales don't have any think to do here | |

LOL!!! Where do I start? Personally, I love Minnesota hip-hop (as if that wasn't clear. lol). Maybe that's because I identify with the artists more, and I can participate with the scene first hand. But I feel it's because I truly dig the art....those aforementioned details make me love it more though. I can see why you think it is bland, Trotter. Me and you look for COMPLETELY different things when considering hip-hop. As an overall sound, MN does not try to push boundaries as much as some scenes, but I have no personal problem with that. One thing I disagree with is when you say they are lyrically (not flow-wise) "the same level as the south". It is a weird comparison, but I know you hate on the south, so it ain't no compliment. I feel the songwriting is the scene's strong point. Beat-wise, the scene doesn't break a lot of new ground or nothing, but I personally love much of what comes out of MN production-wise. "Minn. will never produce a Immortal Tech, Megalon or a Celph Titled." And they probably never will, since the hardcore stuff is not the highlight of the MN scene. It all boils down to personal preference and taste. |
