| We Are The Streets - hilarious, exciting, fun shit
MPR - not bad, pretty consistent, not something I come back to a lot though

Yeah it's pretty weak for 15 something years in the game. And the last album was released early 2000. Unless you count that D-Block - No Security album........i'm not sure if that's official or not........never heard it. At least they have features and group tracks on each others shit I suppose |

| You didn't like "Master of Ceremonies" Wayne? I only skip the pharrell track and one other. I thought it was pretty good. Styles has the best discog of the lox imo |

| Half - I agree with your take on "We Are The Streets". Breathe Easy, Fuck You and Recognize are my top 3. Prob my favorite Lox album, group or solo |

| Damn, I've only heard MPR & Kiss of Death.
They're both pretty great... I guess I should stop procrastinating on the rest of these albums, by the looks of things...

| 4.25
Lox – We Are The Streets
3.75 - 4
Styles – A Gangster & A Gentlemen Jada – Kiss Tha Game Goodbye Jada – Kiss Of Death Styles – Super Gangster (Extraordinary Gentlemen) Styles – Master Of Ceremonies
3-3.5
Lox – Money, Power & Respect……..not bad, I used to hate it Sheek – Walk Witt Me………2 of my favourite D-Block tracks are on this: Mighty D-Block (2 Guns Up) and In/Out (S.P.) Styles – Time Is Money…….a few lame songs on a short album hold this back Sheek – After Taxes……good album, but I’ve never felt Sheek as much as the other two Jada – The Last Kiss.......a lot of commercial attempts…..even for a Jadakiss album Styles – The Green Ghost Project…….this is a good one Sheek – Silverback Gorilla…..pretty average
I’ve also got Styles P – The Ghost Sessions and it’s dope and Jadakiss – I Love You (Mixtape) and it sucks. Jada’s “The Champ Is Here” mixtape is great. I like the first two Ruff Ryders comps as well.
Any more Styles P, Jadakiss listeners on here?

To this day I still can't believe I actually thought "Money, Power, & Respect" was better than "We Are The Streets", smh+facepalm.

| I'm not a big fan of either LOX album. MPR is like a 3.25 to me, and WATS is probably a 3.75 or so.
Jada- KTGG- 3.75-4 KOD- 4.5 or so, my favorite from the camp Last Kiss- 3.5 maybe, only listened to it a couple of times
Styles- G&G- 3.5-3.75 TIM- 4.5ish, second favorite SGEG- can't rate it right now, been too long
Sheek- WWM- 4 or so AT- 4, maybe a bit higher. I get these first two mixed up these days. Regardless, Kiss Your Ass Goodbye>>>>>>> SG- 4, probably a little lower. I liked it when I first heard it, but never really went back
That's all I can think of off the top of my head; I know I've heard more. Sorry for the abbreviations, iPhone typing is a pain

Apart from We Are The Streets and Kiss Tha Game Goodbye, the rest I've only heard in the last year or two............anybody heard the D-Block album or any of the mixtapes? Styles and Jada in particular. Sheek also has a few other albums i'm interested in but i'm not sure if they are bootlegs or recycled shit not worth buying |

Styles had a few good ones. The one who stands out in the group as far as mixtapes go would be Jada. Definitely check out his The Champ Is Here series.

| The Lox are one of the dopest groups of all-time in terms of TALENT levels...lyrically these guys can outspit your favorite emcees easily and that goes for all three of them...but the problem with them is that all three of them are mixtape emcees and not album making emcees per se....Jada has the most successful history making albums, but album creation is not their forte.....their forte is lyrical dexterity...spitting until they collapse...
IN MY OPINION LYRICALLY The Lox>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Geto Boys by a whole damn bunch...but in terms of ALBUM CREATIVITY then it shifts to The Geto Boys>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Lox by a lot....
anyway my rankings on their stuff is as follows: Money, Power, Respect-3.75 stars We Are The Streets-5 stars easily (that shit just bangs and bangs....it's kinda relentless...... the production is very good as well)
Jadakiss: Kiss The Game Goodbye-4 stars Kiss Of Death-4.5 stars The Last Kiss-4.25 stars
Styles P: A Gangster And A Gentlemen-4.5 stars Time Is Money-3.75 stars Super Gangster-4 stars MC-3.5 stars
Sheek: Walk Witt Me-3.75 stars After Taxes-4 stars Silverback Gorilla-3 stars
so Sheek in my opinion has the weakest solo catalog and 'Kiss has the best solo catalog.....from the ones I've heard....

| Good points D.Powell........I agree with the types of MCs they are.
It's what makes them stand out lyrically from their commercial counterparts. Also the reason why they make classic tracks instead of classic albums. Sometimes they just don't mesh well with the beats or collabs geared more to the mainstream.
I think Jada is the best MC of the bunch but Styles has the best discog due to less of those awkward pop attempts they aren't really good at. They have two of the best voices in hip hop imo.
You really think Sheek is that good?
And I can't figure out where the Geto Boys come into this???? |
