I appreciate your work, Kevin...but this has to be the blandest 4 underground emcees. I just have no interest in participating at this point. Again, not intended as an insult...just giving my thoughts on things.

Lol...I hear you man. I know how it is when you think who should be at the top isn't. People just have different taste. I'm not excited about Masta Ace and Royce going this far. But I am not the only one who likes rap music so i'll get over it.

I really just meant that the system seems to have failed in this tourney. One person named Del their favorite to finish, I don't think the other three were mentioned at all as top contenders. Maybe Shaun picked Royce? Still though, it's a strange outcome, and I'm not whining or even complaining. Just stating my thoughts.

Monch is bland? Z-Ro is bland? I could see a case for Royce or Ace if they're not your thing, but i think bland is a bit strong of a term. At the very least, i don't think the 4 left(with maybe the exception of Z-Ro) really epitomize the term "underground", but they are still noteworthy artists in their own right.

True, because in the internet age, there really is no such thing as "underground" anymore. Everyone is accessible. To me, "underground" is just a generic term that applies to those whose music you can't hear on "mainstream" media outlets (radio, tv, etc.)

Thanks for actually reading my post and responding to what I wrote Slang. I think Myestro's right too, though. Pretty much everyone we started with had well-established fanbase.

And Terry, Monch isn't necessarily bland...I like him as an emcee. His music just comes off as kind of middle of the road for me.

the thing is besides Z-Ro these seem to be all safe picks. I think Pharoahe is a well-deserving pick and one of my favorite MCs but how do underground staples like Doom and Keith NOT represent this tourney strong? Same with Canibus and Ras Kass...i mean c'mon these are world class spitters gettin knocked out early and often

So once again Slang we should vote for them out of respect and legacy? Over some of our personal fav's or personal taste? Thats not happening. And they are world class spitters to many but to many they are not also. No matter how lyrical, creative, or revered some of these underground artist are they will never be more to the game than what they are now. Its just how it is. Even in the glory days some of those cats could not get real notice. Their sound is only appreciated by a certain listener.

That's true Kev, but I think it had to do with matchups more than anything else though. Doom probably would have advanced further had he ran into a different matchup. Ras Kass went to the elite 8 though so that's nothing to complain about.

As for Keith, he's a good spitter but his solo discog doesn't really do it for me except for Dr Oct, and Canibus has one of the weakest discog for a dope MC that I can think of.

A dope MC with a weak discog to me is like a pretty chick that can't fuck, what good is that?
