There's been Sara Lee cheesecake rappers since the 80's. But there was a balance. Well, the gay pride rappers, remember Me Phi Me, represnted like 1 percent.

Lord Jamar has relead a Kanye diss track called "Lift Up Your Skirt"
I've neve done that shit when fans take sides like they know them personally. If I like the music i'll cop both albums but in this case i'm taking a side against male rappers wearing skirts. That also includes Queen Latifah

If this was another type of culture or artform then no one probably would care but this is HIP-HOP MUSIC AND CULTURE...Jamar explains why he cares in his video....that Kanye shit ain't hip-hop baby bubba, which is why he saw it necessary to address it.....

If kanye does it, everybody will fall in line.
My fist images of hip hop are method man - tical era, redman - dare iz a darkside era and snoop dogg - doggystyle. They were high profile artists.
I just can't understand kids looking up to Kanye in a leather skirt. Listen to One For All and In God We Trust......two classics and they didn't get attention through their fashion choices

I mean, yeah, I can undestand that. And wearing a skirt as a dude is... weird (i was under the impression it was a kilt which is slightly different). Idk maybe I'm naive, but I don't think a bunch a kids will go out in skirts just because kanye did.

I see where Lund is coming from also. I respect where Jamar is coming from but let's be careful with limiting or saying what hip hop looks like. Perspective and individuality is a bitch. Sometimes people are salty they are not hot anymore and want to tear down whats hot to make people think something is wrong with them. Hip Hop is street rooted and thats where Jamar is coming from but hip hop is not only limited to street dudes anymore. Also times change. Some people get stuck in their era and just point fingers at the newer gens.
Just looking at it from another point of view. Not saying I agree with guys wearing kilts or make-up and shit.

^^^I actually think they will man, maby (probably) i'll be wrong
It opens the doors to that kind of shit. Rappers (mainstream) follow the money/trends
Man i'm a fan of Danny Brown and he looks like a fuckin junkie wearing the tightest outfit possible. I just want it to be about musical talent instead of who can be the gayest.....
I don't want dudes like that representing hip hop.
Fair enough, nothing against gay people and I mean that but can we keep hip hop? Does everything have to be gay friendly? Fuck...let them have show tunes and we'll keep this
If a gay dude raps like rakim and doesn't rap about sucking cocks so i can actually vibe with it and relate i'll buy that album

Tic706 would you be happy if other high profile mc's start wearing womens clothing? C'mon man. Everybody is thinking what Lord Jamar said but they want to be popular. You think Game, for example, wants to wear a skirt? He knows he can make money and stay on top with kanye so he says nothing. We should support Jamar in this shit

I was just thinking and I realized I can't think of any deep bass voiced or real manly toned rappers being in the mainstream for a long minute. Most cats have these soft plain voices. Is it because of gay culture infusing with mainstream America? I don't think its exclusive but where are the hardcore rappers at? We got these stylish ass rappers taking over the mainstream right now.

Well I overstand I live in a world that does not see everything the way I see it. And the above is a BIG stretch. There was questionable fashion choices in rap even in its prime. And you will not see many other high profile rappers wearing women clothes. Its not going to happen. The cats who have that feminine ish in them anayway may follow suit but most won't.

Yeah man Kanye, Lupe.....the everyman is popular
The everyman should be an alternative like De La Soul was in the 90's
Hardcore rap isn't popular anymore. Smoking crack and wearing your mums clothes is the thing to do
Biggie Smalls sold like 10 million went diamond. That same album had Ten Crack Commandments, What's Beef?, Long Kiss Goodnight, Somebody Gotta Die.... that was a hip hop pop album....crazy to think of now

Also now that materialism is so popular in rap that leads to female traits imo. Shopping or "poppin tags" to me has always been a female thing. Most men in my day were not so materialistic. Its one thing to get fresh but the lines have been crossed now.

Key word there is YOU. YOU did it.
Stop blaming the kids...YOU let the old artists die!
If Lord Jamar released the best album ever today, it would not even sell 10k copies. If it even got that much. All you who used to support hip-hop outgrew it and stopped caring mayne!
There are VERY few old school heads like you who still support. Blame YOUR generation, not the kids now!

Nah man, your generation is the 80s.
Everyone you listed except for Large Pro, PE and Craig G are mine.
It's honestly everyone over 25 really not buying and supporting hip-hop. They grew out of it or never really cared in the first place.
Like I said these kids don't know any better, they weren't around when we supported acts like Nas, Wu-Tang, etc. and got them all the radio play. We let them fade into obscurity for the most part, especially has-beens like Lord Jamar.

That was 20 years ago (I'm assuming you went), so 1992. You can have until 1992 baby bubba, and all those dudes debuted (albums) after that mayne!

Back to the topic at hand....I think Lord Jamar has shown effectively that the hip-hop fashion in 2013 and the faggots wearing it are NOT hip-hop and do not represent hip-hop music and culture.....
they rep being expressive, being happy and being gay....that is all....

generations are age based Beavis...what is wrong with you?? first your black and then your white, and then your 29 years old in 2013 but Nas who came out in 1991 on Serch's record "Live At The BBQ" is in "your generation".....you were 7 years old..... Nas was 17 and a senior in HS and you were in the first fuckin grade
Raekwon who is 43 years old in 2013 is in your generation...LMAO! and his debut reording first appeared in 1993.....you were 9 years old then........ ...he was a grown ass man by then
O.C. debuted in 1994...you were 10 years old.... he was a grown ass man by then
Lil Wayne is from your generation Beavis because right now he is 30.......Lil Boosie is your generation because right now in 2013 he too is 30 years old......Drake is your generation because he is 26 in 2013.....
It doesn't matter when you started listening ya dumb idiot...this shit is age based and your peers fucked up the game...plain and simple.....
DMX as an example debuted in 1997 and he is 42 years old in 2013...is he your generation too?? if you say yes then your a fuckin idiot....
hopefully now you completely understand how generations work....if you have cousins who are now in their early 40's are they part of your generation?? but your trying to say it's different because it's music??? HEY STEVE SHUT THE FUCK UP....

Powell, have you ever considered doing audio books? I'd pay you $15 a book if you speak like you type on here.
And generations in music, or movies, or games have nothing to do with the age of the artist. It is dependent upon the release of the item. Are you really that thick you don't get that? Seriously? Please tell me you're joking.

I just showed that even with the release of those certain items in that criteria it still doesn't fit into what you've called "your generation"....because you were only in grade school when some of that stuff was released, I guess that would mean that Al Green....or early Stevie Wonder is in my generation because when I was 3 or 4 years old I heard those songs through my mom....or early Chaka Khan when I was maybe 7 or 8 just like you were when you were listening to that early Nas material or that first Wu-Tang album....lol
Steve you're a fuckin idiot mayne.....of course you don't yet fully realize how much of one you are yet...but hopefully this exercise in futility will convince that you are truly DUMB.....lol....
