| One of my all time favorites, just outside the top 10 maybe around 20. He was a solid MC just didn't have the time to showcase it. If he'd put out a few more cd's, quality cd's, then I'd say top 10 easily. | |

| Terry's laughing, but Big L is better than Pharoahe Monch who he voted into the Top 10.
If Big L were from any coast but the East, I'd vote for him, but the East is too stacked. |

| I don't really think Haystak is top 5, I just like throwing off ignorant ass votes. I've heard both Big L albums in their entiriety, who can say they've listened to a full Stak album and hated it?
Also, I'm not dissing on Big L, I'm just dissing on the bullshit bias that's only ok when CERTAIN people do it. |

If Big L were from any coast but the East, I'd vote for him, but the East is too stacked. Big L is not not better than Pharoahe Monch. End of story. It's not even close to me. the fact that Big L was nominated is hysterical to me. He has no business on anyones top 10. He has half the skill and none of the impact that Biggie had, and Biggie didn't make the cut. anyone disagree?

| I like Pharoahe Monch, but I think Big L was a doper lyricist line for line. Jay Z was going to sign him to Roc-A-Fella before he died. Had that happened, he would have blown up easily. Jay-Z, 2Pac, Big Daddy Kane, and Kool G Rap all have praised Big L's skills.
I agree that Big L isn't Top 10 in the East, but how can anyone laugh at his nomination when he was more relevant than Haystak and Seagram combined.
If L were from any other coast, he'd be Top 10 for me easily. But the East is the toughest division in hip-hop. |

If it's your contention that Big L has doper punchlines than Monch, i have no arguments, but Monch bodies him in every other category IMO. His nomination is laugable cause he's in the same boat as Biggie as far as quantity, and his skill and impact(since some people play that card) don't even come close to Biggie's. If Biggie didn't get in in the tough east and he's infinitely better than Big L, that makes his nomination laughable. Plain and simple!

Well I'm sure you didn't even chuckle at Stak's nomination. Why must you ignore every point i make? you just choose to be contentious. Stak has the credentials to be nominated and the South is a little weaker than the east. With that said, Stak probably has no chance at getting in. Since we are breaking down groups too, Stak probably would not make my top 10-15. I'm not gonna shy away from enjoying his music, but anyone who makes the attempt to know me would know that he's probably my 4th favorite Nashville artist.

| I wasn't ignoring your point. I was just saying that Big L was dope and the fact that he was killed before he hit his prime is the reason why he didn't make a huge impact.
While he's not Top 10, I don't laugh at his nomination because he was a razor sharp lyricist and the best MC from Diggin In The Crates IMO. |

While he's not Top 10, I don't laugh at his nomination because he was a razor sharp lyricist and the best MC from Diggin In The Crates IMO. You're ignoring my point entirely though. You completely ignored my point about why Monch was better. You simply replied with a shot at Stak. You ignored the point i was making about why Big L's nomination is laughable too. Just answer the following questions, and you'll see where i'm coming from. Was Big L in the same position as Biggie as far as albums? Is Biggie infintely more talented and important? Was Biggie voted in? Hence, Big L doesn't deserve a nomination.

| Biggie SHOULD HAVE been voted in easily, but that's another subject.
All I'm saying is that if Big L didn't deserve a nomination, then neither did Haystak or Seagram or Krizz. Big L is far more relevant than all 3 of them put together.
As far as your point about Monch being better. All you said was that he blows L away in every catagory except punchlines, which I disagree with. I think they're about equal lyrically to be honest. The only thing Monch really has over him is a more extensive catalog when you include Organized Konfusion. I dig Big L's albums slightly more than Monch's solo albums though. |

Obviously Biggie SHOULD NOT HAVE been voted in because he was actually not voted in. Untill you can make a case(that does not revolve around personal preference) against all of the artists who have gotten in ahead of Biggie, your argument has no leg to stand on. All you have proven is that an east coast dude holds Biggie in high regard while the rest of the world doesn't think as much of him as you do, and you're still missing the point. The fact is that Biggie WAS NOT voted in, and he's more qualified than Big L. What makes you or anyone else think Big L had a snowball's chance in hell? Also, Seagram, Krizz Kaliko, and Stak were nominated in other regions where the precedent(i.e. Biggies nomination) was not already set.

| Whatever Terry, I just know that Biggie's albums (even though there weren't many of them) were as good or better than the artists that did get in, and he made a bigger impact than most of them. This forum is the ONLY FUCKIN PLACE where Biggie is not Top 10. Every other GOAT list I've seen has him in the Top 5 or better. Not just in the East, but OVERALL!!
And for the 1,000 time, I NEVER SAID THAT BIG L WAS TOP 10 IN THE EAST!!! I voted against him because of lack of impact. But skill wise, dude ain't nothin to laugh at. Point blank, period. CASE CLOSED! |

Pounds you're cool and all, but I've seen your Top 10 list and with the exception of KRS-One, NONE of those guys hold a candle to Biggie. Especially guys like Big Jess and Will Smith. |

I'd vote Will in... I do dig Will Smith's solo work (I don't love it really). If we include DJJJ&TFP, that's basically solo rapping work anyway. So he would get top 10 for me. But would DJJJ&TFP be a "group"? Would BDP be a "group"? lol...we'll see when the debate unfolds...

With as stacked as the east is, why is it not fathomable for people to like 10 artists more? second of all, you mentioning LL would make my point cause he's not the consensus pick any more. Why? Becuase he did release some duds.

Fox News is BIASED to the Republican Party. NONE of those magazines/networks/websites etc are biased to the East Coast. If that were the case, then 2Pac (voted number one by BET and Vibe and Top 10 on all of them) and Ice Cube (Top 10 on all as well) wouldn't have gotten the love they did. |

As for Biggie, you mention more MC's debuted in the 90's. Among them is Jay-Z, whom himself has said that if it weren't for Biggie, he probably wouldn't have blown up as much as he did. I know you're not a Jigga fan, but you cannot discount his impact or legacy despite your personal opinion of him. He's the most successful East Coast artist in history and Biggie was his BIGGEST influence. Biggie also influenced many more artists, and was the reason why Bad Boy Records was so dominant in the mid 90's and beyond. |

Moreover, those media outlets push their own agenda whenever possible. They do shit to make a buck. We make these lists because we are all actually obsessed with hip-hop. We live and breathe it.
