| If I remember correctly, some of the folks around here (well, Amazon) liked Green Day quite a bit. Personally, they are one of my all time GOAT's regardless of genre. Their new album dropped today. I like it. It's kinda like American Idiot part 2. Thoughts? |

50? LOL - try mid-30s. But I agree. The black eyeliner stuff is pretty homo. They didn't use that junk back in 2000 and before.

I have all of their albums. I'm in the same boat as Terry, if it's remotely close to American Idiot, I'll be pleased. I'll probably try before I buy, though. Just standard protocol for me anyway... | |

how is this? better than Wolves in Wolves Clothing? cuz i enjoyed that album I like it a lot. It's gotten a good 7-8 spins so far. I actually recently ordered "Wolves in Wolves Clothing". So I'm not sure. But this new one is pretty much classic NOFX. There material doesn't change much. |

I'll probably try before I buy, though. Just standard protocol for me anyway... I must say, it is like American Idiot part 2, but it does not reach the highs of American Idiot. Personally, I think it may be a bit overproduced. I don't like the distortion effects on a lot of Billy Joe's vocals. Also, it feels less personal than past stuff. Still a bit on the fence about it. There are some very nice compositions and melodic material, but I'm not feeling it quite as much. American Idiot reached a nice balance, and I think they are just taking that concept a little far for my taste, despite being a nicely crafted record. "American Idiot was gay." LOL - That's probably 5 stars IMO. But I will say "Warning" is their best record IMO...which is a lot different. More Kinks inspired. |

I wouldn't say that, but "Dookie" is obviously the bigger, and more groundbreaking album. I started listening to them in 1994 when it dropped, and is probably my most played album by them until "Warning" dropped in 2000. Since then, "Warning" has probably gotten more plays. There isn't a single skip track on the album, while I have a one or two on "Dookie". I'd still consider both classics though. Both are about even to me, but "Warning" edges it out because it was the record that kept me a die hard fan in their later days. lol...love it. |

Cause the new record is not that great IMO. On the other hand, the NOFX is. I've been spinning that quite a bit more. I got about 10 of their CDs...been a fan for years. Hell, I got most of their albums on tape. I've seen that shirt though. For some reason that picture of Jesus reminds me of the "Buddy Christ" from the movie Dogma. lol |
