A difference in taste would be liking KRS more than Rakim. there really is no right or wrong answer. People would just agree to disagree. It's another thing to say Benzino has ever been a part of something that rivals Grip It. and people can say Geto Boys are legendary due to Face which is true, but one listen to Gript It, and everyone knows who the star/focal point of that albums is
He likes Benzino more. That's it. Cut out that "hey this is canon/I'm so objective" bullshit out.

Benzino is TRASH, both as a MC and a human being.

Haha I just realized I never put my list in here...I'll try albums first:
Top 10 Albums
1. Outkast - Aquemini. Outkast is the group that got me into hip hop, and this is the album that got me into the group. Being the group's best album is also a plus.
2. GZA - Liquid Swords. This is easily the best Wu solo and best Wu album that I've heard in general. Skip-proof, RZA at his peak, GZA at his peak, classic samples...I mean I could write a couple of essays about this album (I actually did write one in HS...got an A+ bitch)
3. Gang Starr - Hard to Earn. Definitely my favorite Gang Starr album by a big margin. Guru stepped up his game on this one but Premier took it to unbelievable levels and became my favorite producer in not just hip hop but all of music with this one.
4. Organized Konfusion - Stress: The Extinction Agenda. Every year this album just sounds better and better to me. I just love the production on here and of course the lyricism displayed by both Monch and Prince Po is unparalleled.
5. Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back. This album is a true classic and one that has passed the test of time. If I were more inclined to be "objective" this would probably be my number one or 2 at the lowest. Name something wrong with this album. Oh wait, you can't.
6. Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonecologyst. Simply one of the most unique albums I have ever heard. It doesn't get any weirder - in a good way of course. Dan The Automator held it down and so did Kool Keith. Words really can't describe this album, it has to be heard.
7. Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor And Dangerous. Yeah this might seem a little too high for most of you guys (maybe all of you guys) but I just listen to this wayyyy too much for it not to be on this list. Definitely my favorite DITC album, and the production provides the perfect backdrop to L's dark storytelling and aggressive punchlines.
8. Madvillain - Madvillainy. My favorite album of the last decade just had to be on this list. I could listen to this album all day every day, it has endless replay value for me. A modern classic.
9. A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory. Definitely my favorite ATCQ album and "jazz-rap" album. Smooth like butter, and Buggin Out is probably one of the five best hip hop tracks I have heard.
10. Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The 36 Chambers. Yeah, another Wu album. Five star classic. I can't say anything about it that hasn't been said before. Perfect.

Ok so I guess I'll finally put my top 10 albums on here.
1. CunninLynguists- A Piece Of Strange This is just a truly flawless album IMO. Kno's production is incredible, and I've never heard anything like it. Deacon and Natti also kill it. The fact that it tells a story throughout the album is incredibly dope as well.
2. The Roots- Game Theory I got this album back in 9th grade when I was really starting to get into hip hop. I loved the dark sound The Roots were doing on this. I also feel like Black Thought was at his best on this album and all the guest emcees sound great along side him.
3. Wu-Tang Clan- 36 Chambers Raw and in your face. I love this shit. What more is to be said about this album?
4. GZA- Liquid Swords RZA's best produced album IMO. GZA and the rest of the Wu just destroys every track.
5. Nas- Illmatic Too bad Nas isn't getting production like this anymore.....
6. Blu and Exile- Below the Heavens I've been bumping this albums since 07 when I came out and it just never gets old. The beats are incredible. I love that Blu gets so personal on all the tracks, and that is really why I love this album so much because you can tell he's putting everything into his music.
7. J Dilla- Donuts My favorite producer and his going away album. That fact that he made this while dying is truly amazing. This album is filled with incredible beats and all of them have subliminal messages in them. The way he chopped some of those samples is fucking insane.
8. Outkast- ATLiens I used to like Aquemini more but Aquemini has a couple skip tracks that I can't get pass. Whenever I drive through the ATL I gotta put this shit on.
9. Raekwon- Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Another top notch RZA produced album. Rae + Ghost= a motherfuckin winning combo.
10. UGK- Ridin' Dirty Classic smooth southern hip hop.

Hey guys, what do you think about posting your top 11-20 albums? As a lot of you guys have pointed out many of the lists are similar, but maybe expanding to 20 could lead to more variation and discussion. Also, I'm just wondering if there are any really nice albums I've been sleeping on.
I'll start off...
11. Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik 12. Gang Starr - Daily Operation 13. Goodie Mob - Soul Food 14. Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus 15. Raekwon - Only Built For Cuban Linx... 16. Dälek - Abandoned Language 17. Jeru The Damaja - The Sun Rises In The East 18. Nas - Illmatic 19. Mobb Deep - The Infamous 20. Dr. Dre - The Chronic

yea man i actually spent like an hour doing that last night cuz i was bored as shit, i realized as i was listing it how many albums i left off....like i listed like 100 other albums that i had a hard time leaving off the list, and that list could definitely change...especially now im listening to guys loike K-Rino, Z-Ro, Mac Dre more, they could have albums creep in. And it was tough leaving a lot of other albums out...i guess i havent realized HOW MANY albums we've actually heard and have to choose from

and? I find them incredibly dope. They have plenty of material just because they don't have a major label release doesn't mean that they don't have great music.
I don't give a shit anymore. I'm not making excuses, Asher Roth is just plain ill. And I have ZERO tolerance for wackness.

Asher Roth is trash, but to each their own.

That's why I specified in my post 'everything after Asleep In the Bread Aisle'. I hated Ash when he first came out, but since his 'Seared Foie Gras...' mixtape dropped last year I've (reluctantly, at first) become a big fan of his. Check out these few tracks, and if you still think he's trash, then it's justified imo, not that you need to justify yourself to me or anything.

I can't do a top 100. I know i have about 50 albums or so that will never fall out of rotation for the most part, but aside from that what i want to hear depends on my mood. Depending on my mood when i make a top 100 different albums would or would not make it. I guess i can try to make one later, but don't hold your breath, LOL!

It's funny how you like Asher and J Cole, but don't like anyone from the 80's. Tons of guys from the 80's would rip those two fools to shreds, and most MC's for that matter.
I listened to those tracks, while the production was tight his lyrics are just so-so to me. More Cowbell was entertaining but he comes off as a poor man's Eminem.

I do like rappers from the 80s (G Rap, Rakim, KRS, Beastie Boys, Slick Rick among others). I really admire they're skill and contributions to the genre, but I just prefer music that sounds more current. It's similar to how a kid in the 70s would jam Zeppelin but wouldn't listen to the Everly Brothers, the sound has evolved. You prefer the eighties because that's what you grew up with. I grew up with Eminem, Jay-Z, Ludacris etc. and then widened my hip-hop palette as I went along listening to the stuff that came before so I could have a grasp on the history of the music and scouring the underground for dope artists. Idk I''m rambling, but I know Cole and Roth would be devoured by Kane or G Rap and not even affect their appetites, but I musically I like how a lot of their (Roth,Cole) stuff sounds over those two (Kane, G Rap whom I have the utmost respect for).
You gave it a chance. That's all I asked. I didn't expect you to become a super fan or anything lol. But that 'Muddy Swim Trunks' video was dope though right? All in one take.
and these lines:
I'm too wild, trying to take it on back to 9 6 Illadelph, half-life, all eyes have been nixed Beats, rhymes and life and stakes is high shit It was written in the scriptures, A-T-Liens exist By Iron Man and Dr. Octo-Gynecologist
Are super dope. All those albums came out in '96... I found that cool...

Yeah, Danger Zone is a top 25 album for me. I actually forgot The Realness (should be 11-13) and 187 He Wrote (16-18ish); both should be on my list.

1st and foremost you can't have any kind of list without Eminem at the top!!! i'm not a fan of making lists cause there are way too many good MC's and albums to say what is top 10 and so on. but aside from the very obvious here is my list of MC'S and albums that are just as good as anyone can say otherwise..no particular order
Eminem--no one can put words together or tell stories better than he can period.. 50 Cent-- ya i'll get hate for this but his 1st 2 albums were classics (POTD & GRODT)and he has enough good songs on his next 3 to have made a 3rd classic if he chose to go that route plus a street album/mixtape library 2nd to none! T.I.-- what can u say King of the South Scarface--doesn't get any respect can tell stories with the best of them Xzibit--the forgotten west coast G KRS-One--A true MC Immortal Technique--Most Underrated MC Bun-B--A true class act Method Man--The best in the Wu Ghostface-2nd Best in Wu honorable mention...Ice Cube, Ill Bill & Raekwon... again they are not the best ever but you cant take away any of there shine!!!
Albums..... might not be the best ever but these are 10 albums that i will bang till I DIE!!
Get Rich or Die Tryin' Power of the Dollar Marshall Mathers LP Slim Shady LP Emeritus The Hour Of Reprisal Restless Trill Ironman Beg For Mercy honorable mention...Revolutionary Vol. 2, King, Tical....
again this is a list of MC's & Albums that are not the usual suspects that everyone puts in there top 10 lists but IMO are just as timeless!!!

Emertus? I'm a big Face fan and I wasn't that impressed with that album. Have you heard any other Face albums?
Trill I can't see at all. I know thats your opinion but I have to totally disagree with that one even being mentioned in the same class as these other albums. I like the Beg 4 Mercy pick. While its not classic in my book its a dope ass album no doubt.
And your top 10 rappers is one of the most unique list I have seen in awhile. Props for having your own taste!!!!!!!!! I luv list like that one.

I guess so. Because my favorites are far different from who I consider "Top 10". But yes, I like all 10 of those guys. If anyone considers that list "weak"...that's their problem.
