| For you true gamers have you ever had to deal with racism or racist remarks during play? [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]This article prompted me to ask the question because I've never played online. And what do you think is a realistic solution or should they keep it laissez-faire? | |

| I barely ever play games online, and the only thing I ever hear is profanity and racism. | |

| When I use to play Halo 2 & Gears of War, I dealt with racism all the damn time. Before it use to bug me being called the the n word, saying that I'm on welfare, illiterate, etc. all the damn time but I don't let that shit bug me at all anymore. I just let them be and not waste my time unless I feel like talking shit for fun and that's pretty much it... | |

WOW you have thick skin.
Damn I didn't know it was like that with online gaming. The part that trips me out is the majority of these assholes wouldn't say that shit to anyone face. Your game face is your real face. It's not what you say when folks are around but when nobody is looking.

| People say racist shit online all of the time. I'm guessing it's an outlet for people that don't have the spine to do so in real life. The gaming world is pretty bad about it. I hear people dropping insults and racist remarks all the time. Like X, I tune it out. Trying to be civil or have a dialogue with them is a bigger waste of time than trying to get through to KJ and Powell. It's probably easier to just slam your head against a wall than to waste your time addressing them. They're in their cocoons and will never come out of them.
Besides, there's no reason to dignify these people...

| XBOX Live is a breeding ground for the KKK. Every lobby you get into is a bunch of pissed off hillbillies dropping the N bombs and this and that. I usually mute everyone but its quite unfortunate. | |

| Well played. ^
Thing that separates me from them is that they genuinely mean what they say. Its scary. Next thing you know they form a militia and make plots to shake up the nation.

| Yeah we talk about this a lot. I remember when I first got Call Of Duty that is when it really got off the chain. I agrue back sometimes for the hell of it with real cruel racial remarks. They hate that shit. I ignore most of the time because like laready mentioned its a waste of energy. |

Me neither. I'm still playing the first Halo on my PC! And were stalking a Halo with no frills. I never play online games--not even the free ones. The internet is a place to spread racism and porn. Didn'tyuno?

| The closest I ever got to playing online was a LAN party playing Starcraft, we all talked shit but nothing like what that article described but I guess for the most part we all knew each other.
One guy got pissed cause I wouldn't die and kept doing raids on him with what few soldiers had left.
