this album actually is not as bad as some might think it is...he created his own lane with this one!

This deserves top 50 for the midwest easily. Even though I do not like the album save for a few trks..

Neither, I copped this album back in 2000 and after two spins had no desire to spin it again.

First album I bought... way back when I was 10. Haven't listened to it since so I'll just not vote. Had a bunch of dope songs I remember listening to though.

Objectively I would say yes. But i'm going with what i feel personally and i can't give it a top 50 rating.

First of all, I didn't say the Midwest didn't have 50 dope albums...Kev said that, not me. I DID say that the Midwest was the weakest region and probably the least amount of consensus classics, but I didn't say that they didn't have 50 dope albums.

Secondly, I neithered this album because it sucks IMO. I liked maybe 2-3 songs on it at best. I think those voting in favor of it are doing so because of the impact it made rather than it's quality. I don't have a problem with that, but only a diehard Nelly fan would consider this album anywhere near classic.

Apparently, I have not heard nearly enough Alchemist beats then. But as I said previously, it's often time the rappers he chooses to work with that don't thrill me.

Is his album "1st Infantry" generally liked? Can't say I liked much of it at all.

No, Al, 1st Infantry is rather bland by most accounts. His newer album is hella dope though.

I liked 1st Infantry, but I liked Chemical Warfare better.

His work with Mobb Deep has been stellar for the most part.

Okay, I digress then. I mean, I heard a couple of his other beats that haven't impressed me much, but I will will give him the benefit of the doubt.

We were talking best 2000s producer at the time...which is where my comment came into play.

He may just not be your style, but your a fan of Muggs, Havoc, etc, yes? If you've heard "Keep It Thoro" and don't think it's a top 50 beat of all time or you didn't instantly find your head nodding to "Worst Comes 2 Worst" or "Home Sweet Home/We Gon Make It" you're not going to like anything else by Alc IMO. But if you liked that beat you should see if there's some other stuff you'd dig by him. The beat from LCN's cd last year was crack, and most of his LP from last year was dope. I will agree that he doesn't always work with the best mc's (and doesn't always give them the best beats either) though.

I hear you on all that. I'll keep an open mind. I can see the similarities with Havoc. Muggs, not quite as much, but I suppose they're probably similar nonetheless. I love Muggs BTW. I'll keep an open mind. Maybe I jumped the gun on the producers thread. But nowadays I go for a bit different sound....

Nah it's cool. Alc doesn't do much other than what he does, so I understand that point of view. You should at least give the new album a shot...and try to ignore his rapping.
