The verse of 2010 thread got me thinking about how everyone else on the forum listens to music. Usually since I multitask while listening to music I don't really get most of the song I'm listening to. Whether I'm surfing the web while on Itunes or doing shit around the house with the stereo, I find it hard to grasp the subject of the song unless I pay CLOSE attention. So my question is, how do you guys get the most out of your music. Do you sit and listen to music without doing something else (feels a bit awkward)?. Just trying to get even more out of something I enjoy.

I'm usually always listening to music. Whether driving, mowing, playing with my son, playing wii, whatever it is. On a rare occasian I will sit and listen to music if I'm having a bad day or whatever.

I get my best listens of music in the car - real talk... otherwise I am just like you esco - doing something else so I don't get a real straight listen. When I am cleaning up or working out I also get good listens, but the car is where it's at and this is the current song I play on repeat:

I'm usually listening to something as well. I just find myself dozing of into whatever I'm doing, and the music just blends into the background, where I only grasp some details of the song. Eh, maybe I just have shitty attention span.

Nah, I can either vibe to music or do what I am doing... if I am working, the music is in the background, but all my attention is on my work so I don't really hear lyrics and shit, so to me its one or the other.

When I first get a cd I usually just sit around and listen to it. From then on its just in the car, on the bus, just walking with headphones. I always listen, but try to always pay attention the first time at least

I listen to music practically everyday, whether in the whip or in the house. If I'm not listening to it, I'm talking about it. If I'm not talking about it, I'm reading about it. If I'm not reading about it, I'm thinking about it. If I'm not.......... well, you get the picture, lol.

I listen to most of my music at work, and i'm able to concentrate more on the music there. When i'm in the car or at home, The music has a tendency of being background noise because there can be so many distractions.

I miss music. I only get to listen on my way to work and at night when I go to bed I throw my headphones on. I don't listen to it around my kids and my wife doesn't like it either so I never get the time I used to have to listen. I envy you people.

Damn homie you need to man up or something...lol. I respect my wife and kids but i'll be damn if they make that happen.
Anyway most of my true listening album wise happens in the ride. I rarely listen to full albums in the house. That is when I just listen to random songs on the ipod for the most part. When i'm clening up I tend to listen to that option especially or ole school R&B and reggae.

Nah, it's not really about manning up. I don't feel like I should let my kids hear the explicit lyrics so I don't listen to it around them. And since there out of school for the summer they are always around. Not much I can do about that. With my wife being 8 months pregnant i'm pretty much doing it all right now so time is not something I have alot of. When were alone my wife doesn't hate all hip hop, she just doesn't get the conscious stuff i listen too. If she can dance to it she's down. If I let her pick she usually picks Bone Thugs "Strength & Loyalty" because she likes "In The Trunk". But if I throw a "Liquid Swords" in then she doesn't understand why i like it.

I listen while driving, or walking. I also have music going while I'm surfing the web (not all the time, but probably around 90%). I used to listen to music when playing video games too. Mainly Madden football, but also the old Final Fantasy games, and anything that doesn't require you to actually hear the game. But, I don't play games as much as I used to, so that's getting less and less.

Yeah. And Final Fantasy III for SNES was actually Final Fantasy 6. I've played 1 through 10, and 12. Also played Final Fantasy II: The After Years (was a download for the Wii), and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. And, of course, Final Fantasy Tactics. 2 was dope, but I like 3 (or 6) better. My FF Top 5 would look like:
VI (III on SNES) XII VIII VII Tactics

Well I don't have a tv, or the internet, or a lawn to mow, I have a maid that cleans, I live two mins from work. And I manage a grocery store, and I live on my ace, so I'm kinda forced to come home every night, sit down at my computer, put that shit on random, an listen closely to whatever is playing. I just wish I had a more comfortable chair. Music is really my only form of entertainment, I just moved towns so I don't really know anyone but my uncle. I feel that sitting down an JUST listening is, to me, both calming and enchanting. Getting lost in wordplay an storylines. Love it. 90 percent o the time I am pretty goofed so maybe it does make the sit easier?
Nothing like smoking a doobet, drinking a savanna (apple cider drink) and sitting down to awesome music, an if I'm lucky, I find a song that's so infectious, I immeadiately fall in love widit. I really have gotten closer to my music over the last couple o months, something I've always held dear to me.

If by that you mean, do I hit bongs, blunts, joints and bowls while I listen to my music....then yes. Otherwise, no....I'm usually doing something. This may be the most attention I pay to music...to the point where the music enhances my high.
I get the most out of my music in the car though. 45+ minute commute to and from work gives me plenty of close listening time.
