| I can understand all that Kev. I think they're pretty close too. I give a slight edge to Rakim though, so he wins for me. | |

Quik is a legend no doubt about it....I got introduced to him from some of the heads on here and I picked up his debut, Safe And Sound, Balance And Options and his greatest hits and have been impressed with each one of them.... I thank the forum for the formal introduction to his dopeness....I think his production work is second to none...lyrically I think he's average but has his own style which is still dope as well.....but this thread is about the GOAT emcee not producer and the fucked up thing for Quik is that right here he got matched up with Rakim...which IMO on a GOAT emcee's thread he should always lose that battle....that battle is not even close IN MY OPINION....so this is not about hate for me personally, this is about talent/skills on that mic device and Quik as dope as he is can NOT fuck with Rakim Allah on the mic....IN MY OPINION! | |

Dope shit Powell. I can respect that. I mean I already know Quik is not seen in the same light lyrically as Rakim. But not because he can't hang with Ra but because Rakim is just seen as a lyricist due to he fits the "image" of a lyricists. Quik i no joke on the mic and I will say he's an above average-good lyricists. To me Rakim is a above average-good lyricists. Its all in personal taste though. |

Rakim is only above average-good to you, yet K-Rino is great in your opinion? SMH. I know that statment is gonna bring out Pedro and the rest of the Rino stans but I just don't see it. Rakim is universally known as one of the greatest lyricists of all time, I just don't think he's your cup of tea. DJ Quik is great and I'll admit I slept on him for quite some time but Rakim is a more complete MC IMO. I downloaded Quik's entire discog and I like it a lot, but I feel that Rakim has more rewind-button lyrical moments and more classic albums and songs under his belt. There's a reason why he's called the God MC. Quik is dope in his own right, but he's simply not on Rakim Allah's level. So while I respect your opinion Kev, I disagree with it. |

That'd be pointless because nobodies opinion will change no matter how dope the verses are. |

Your point is wrong, keep my name out your mouth in conversations I am not involved in. As big a fan as I am of K-Rino, you define the word stan with your love for your favorites, like Nas. |

The difference is that I ADMIT to being a Nas stan, while you DENY being a Rino stan (i.e. you being upset when Rino was eliminated by Scarface even though that was seen by most people as inevitable, including other Rino fans). Just sayin.... And you would have said something had I not brought your name up anyway. |

| You can't guarantee that - so next time keep my name out of your mouth and then if I post you can say "I Told You So" - otherwise, keep my name out your mouth.
You are sitting here whining and complaining because people like Quik more than Rakim. You are stanning out with every post in this thread, so you have no business talking about anyone being a stan until you stop being one yourself. |

It means someone doing something, yet saying that it's wrong for someone else to do it. You whined and bitched about Rino being eliminated, yet you call me out for complaining about people liking Quik more than Rakim. That's hypocritical. And I didn't even complain, I just simply debated with Kev over his viewpoints. |

| I listened to Quik Is The Name for the first time last night and I was impressed. I am spinning Safe & Sound now. As Powell said, I have to give you all credit because if you all hadn't have been co-signing his catalog I would have left it alone. I'll finish Safe & Sound and Rhythmalism will be next. | |
