Tough 1 indeed but Illmatic alone seals my vote... love to The R but 1 greatest hits album and you know everything you need to about the god and his style/flow. Every Nas Album needs to be spun front to back (maybe not so much his newer material)

LOL...hilarious, I disagree with this comment completely...do you really believe Rakim's greatest hits explains all that you need to know about him?? then you must not be too interested in learning too much about a masterful emcee, and have you heard Distant Relatives and Untitled by Nas?? I ask that because you questioned his newer shit and maybe you don't know about that stuff as well....

Nas is my number 4 emcee of all-time and Rakim is my numero uno emcee which is why I picked him here, but I hope Nas takes this entire tourney, he's done more than enough to justify being called the GOAT emcee IMO....

Nas is better LYRICALLY then everyone of those artists you just named Kev, IMO he should beat everyone of those guys with no problem...


as for Rakim, I can tell you're not too familiar with his works Kev, because he has a bunch of album cuts that were FIRE my dude...not sure which albums if any that you own of his but you may need to go and revisit them if you do IMO

Nas is a mofo lyrically so I give you that. And he's my number 4 fav rapper so no problem with him winning. He damn sure earned it.

I own Paid In Full, 18th Letter, Don't Sweat, and 7th Seal. I have heard the other ones except The Master. Honestly Powell you know his overall best songs were singles. His other songs always played 2-3rd string in which this is what makes his albums average to me.

Yes I've got Distant Relatives and it is good, not great, funny you say 'untitled' because thats really the only newer Nas I have played lately. Nas dropped straight classic albums in his prime. Like I said, props to Rakim, a true pioneer/trendsetter but he is like Slick Rick to me, getting more respect than play.

This should have been the finals matchup IMO. Easily two of the greatest MC's of all time.

I'm gonna go with Nas, but I won't be upset with either man advancing.

You also need to cop Follow The Leader and Let The Rhythm Hit Em. Those two along with Paid In Full are classic albums Kev. Don't Sweat The Technique is a 4.5 star album.

As for his best songs being singles, well that's the case with most rappers. However, his non-singles are considered bangers as well. Pretty much any song on PIF could make most people GOAT lists. Other dope tracks are Lyrics Of Fury, The R, No Competition, Untouchables, Run For Cover, Mahogany, Step Back, Rest Assured, Teach The Children, Casualties At War, and What's On Your Mind just to name a few.

i wont be upset with who advances but i think ill vote Nas just barely - i almost dont want to vote cuz its so close. Rakim easily has the better flow and i dont buy the Nas is better lyrically argument, but Nas to me wins - if this was another day i could easily vote Rakim
