| Seriously, have you heard a blues song were they're speak highly of women? Im speaking REAL blues not that Jazz-type Blues. Real Blues don't have any female artist. Blues singers such as Hound Dog Taylor make songs about how women are cold blooded reptiles that are unfaithful and undisciplined . Various songs like "When my baby left me.." Well there's some songs were the Blues artist explains his own actions caused his girl to walk out but those are too far and few between. One may say, well that's why they call it the Blues. Even still if one listens to Blues as their primary music they may have a warped outlook on the female species. Take world renowned underground comic artist Robert Crumb he stated tradition Blues is his favorite music and he's put in in his comic books, and he displayes females in his comic as sleezy and treacherous. He's stated he doesn't degrade women in his comics its just that's he's afraid of women and it has manifested in his work. When a Blues artist rambles about how he lost his job and house you know he's gonna have a verse about his female abandoning him next. Nope, in Blues men and women don't struggle together, women jump ship. I remember hearing one song were the artist states he bought his girl a Cadillac yet she wouldn't even stop to give him a ride. That's cold. | |

| Blues generalizes, but I think hip hop degrades women far more.
And Robert Crumb (who wrote and drew Fritz The Cat, as well as drew some stuff for his friend and fellow blues enthusiast Harvey Pekar's American Splendor comic) sexualized those generalizations more than anything. But nobody really downgrades women to the point of just being sexdolls like hip hop does. |

I know Blues is blues, but your not gonna find too many Blues songs were they speak of women having good character. Of course Blues never talk about using women as just cum buckets. Blues artist actually worship females but explains women wont return the love and affection--for free. In Blues women are the heartbreakers instead of men | |

| Flat out false and inflammatory, Trotter. Yes, there's a lot of sexism in the blues, but no, it is not the sole attitude. Bill Broonzy's "Date With an Angel" is just one example off the top. And, really..no lady blues vocalists? Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington just yo name a few. Those girls were all vicious critics of the men in their lives - in song. | |
