| What are your top 5 Hip-Hop album covers? And what made them stand out for you? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/98/Uptownsaturdaynight.jpgCamp Lo-Uptown Saturday Night (looked like a painting) Public Enemy-Fear of a Black Planet (symbolism alone) Ice Cube-Death Certificate (cause Sam AIN'T MY MUTHAFUCKIN UNCLE! says so much) RZA-Bobby Digital (reminds me of old 70's posters) Outkast-ATLiens (struck a chord because of its comic book feel) | |

| "Midnight Marauders"--really just captures the goofy yet tasteful vibe of the album perfectly.
Above the Law's "Uncle Sam's Curse"--just a really cool picture, looks like a heavy metal album or something.
The Nonce's "World Ultimate"--same deal pretty much. Just cool artwork.
Nine's "Nine Livez"--ok, guess I like cheap thrills too.
Common's "Like Water for Chocolate"/"One Day It'll All Make Sense"--just really tasteful artwork, compelling in their own rights. | |

| Cube-Death Certificate- agree with peterson. It just reped how most black knowledge of self felt about the old guard.
dead prez- Lets Get Free- fits the title of the album perfectly.
Geto Boys- We Can't Be Stopped- they had a lot of people talking down on their subject matter around this time and a lot of personal turmoil going on. So this album cover showed they were still standing against all odds.
2 Live Crew- Nasty As They Wanna Be- self explainatory
Can't think of a 5th. Never put any thought into this. |

| Camp Lo- Uptown Saturday Night: I love that painting from Good Times
BDP- Sex & Violence: Really polarizing and captured the album title perfectly.
Kool G Rap- Live And Let Die- Pretty much the same reason as Sex & Violence, the cover was so contraversial that the album was put out of print for over 10 years because of it before it was re-released by popular demand.
Outkast- ATLiens: Awesome artwork, Marvel/DC level drawings.
A Tribe Called Quest- People's Instinctive Travels: Simply an amazing cover. |
