| Okay i'm sure i'm not the first to create a thread about this album. I may have missed but I had to put this one on loud speaker. While Eso is nothing unique on the mic he is still something serious. If you dig most above average back pack style emcees no one should have any prob getting into him. And the beats are soooo dope. Who does the production for this cat? I highly rec this album to cats like KJ, Highsmith, Wayne, and Powell especially. This is something that should keep your good faith in in good rap music.

Actually, I believe you are the first to dedicate a thread to this album. And 7L does the production. Esoteric is the emcee. And the fact that you refer to him as an "above average back pack style emcee", makes it less likely that those guys will check it out. I think you're selling the man short, but what do I know?

| LOl....my fault. I'm just digging this album. Are all their albums on this tip?
And above average back pack rapper was just to give an idea to some who may hesitate or go in with some other expectations. He's just like your Apathy's, Phonte's, Celph's etc etc. But thats not a bad thing is it?

To me, no, it's not a bad thing at all. We all know how Powell feels about those guys though. So his chances of peeping this are now 0. I dig this album too. Not 100% sure by what you mean about other albums being "on this tip". Most don't have such an old school feel to them. My opinion of their albums would be (in order): The Soul Purpose Dangerous Connection 1212 (though this could realistically move up to #2) DC 2: Bars of Death A New Dope I haven't heard Moment of Rarities. I think you'd dig Dangerous Connection though, if you like this one. Could always d/l them as a test drive, if you're not against that sort of thing.

| Depending on free time, and such, I'd recommend giving all of them at least a listen. You might like them all, or not like any of them. Ultimately, it's your call though. | |

| I thnk if anyone were to listen to Eso without any preconceived expectations...you kind of have to appreciate his skill. I would say his biggest fault is that he really doesn't seem to switch up his flow too often. Add that with how specific his flow is, and I can see how you either like him or you don't.
AOTP, Demigodz...nobody does punchline/ battle rap better.

| This album is great. After about three listens, I'd say Eso pretty much killed it. I don't love all the production, but most of it I do.
12th Chamber is my favorite track by far. I'd say the AOTP track is my least favorite.

| Anybody notice how terrible Sadat X has been lately? He just sounds uncomfortable on the mic. Maybe he's trying a new flow, but I hope he doesn't think it's working for him. | |

I haven't heard this album but he did appear on the Celph album and he wasn't very memorable there either.

| LOL, none of the people Kev rec'd this album to have even bothered to post on this thread. I'm still waiting for my copy to get here, but the 4 or 5 tracks i've heard have all been great.
12th Chamber>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I Hate Flying
Also, I'm about halfway through The Soul purpose, and so far it's a great effort.

Personally, I don't really hear it. Though I have had an album playing, and someone who didn't know thought it was Jay-Z (might have been my sister). Maybe I'm just too used to him to hear it.

Yeah, it might have come across as me trying to make it more than it really is. If so, my bad. But I know what you mean about the overhyping of underground artists on forums. There's plenty that I feel are overhyped, and some I feel that don't get enough shine. It's all a matter of personal preference. I do think they (KJ, Wayne, Powell, etc.) would dig 7L & ES if they gave them a fair chance though. I don't think they'd be like "oh, they're the greatest", but I think they'd at least get some enjoyment out of it.

| I just saw this for the 1st time today....lol I will check it out Terry. I just got 1982 and 3 Day Theory from Itunes. I also plan to get Made In Brooklyn. (I know I'm late, remember I just got No Said Date in 2010) Myestro just recommended this to me on the 2010 list that I just made. This will be on my radar, I just want to listen to those 3 CDs are first. I also saw "Stick To The Script" from Statik Selektah and liked that tracklisting. How is it? | |

Plus, Secondspin has a special right now where all orders are shipped for $1.99 and you get 20% off your order too. So it would only be about $5-$6 for it by itself or even a better deal if you order more from them.

Is that what you're referring to, Mys? I thought it was a huge disappointment. 3.5 stars from me, but I'm a Statik stan, so it may be less... Oops, my bad. I was actually referring to this album (1212), due to the fact that I said it's one from 2010 that Highsmith should peep. Was just saying that my opinion is biased, so to ask one of you guys.

| Ah. Makes sense. This album does keep getting better to me. I think I may like it more than 1982 as of now | |

| I've only spun 1212 once with no previous experience with either 7L or Eso and I thought it was ok. I def hear the Jay comparison, though, it was the first thing I noticed. Some of the beats are really cool but some are boring. Overall, it was ok but I have been listening to a TON of new shit lately so it might be getting lost in the sauce. I think I'm gonna check out A New Dope, tho, I have liked all of Trotter's recs so far. | |

| I have 100 Proof already Kev and that's in my Top 5 for 2010. Thanks for the feedback by the way. I got through 1982 and 3 Day Theory today and I am more than impressed with both efforts. They will definitely be in my Top 10 for the year once I bump 2 Cds down the list. | |
