I like Royce a lot, however, I have yet to own any of his albums. I'm going to begin with Success Is Certain, which I'll be ordering on Friday, and of course I own the tight Slaughterhouse and Bad Meets Evil albums. What other albums would you recommend in his discog?

About time, good sir.
Death Is Certain, The Album, Bar Exam 1&2, and Street Hop are essential. The Build & Destroy mixtape is dopealicious, too

I think you should get Street Hop next. Death Is Certain was forgettable to me but it has been a long time since I heard it. Rock City was very unbalanced and forgettable save for a few dope trks.

Definitely Bar Exam 1 & 2, both are crazy dope (BE2 is my GOAT mixtape... for what that's worth...).

You've said a million times you have a love/hate relationship with Death Is Certain...now it's forgettable?

If it's a love/hate relationship, wouldn't it be logical that he hates it right now? That would make it forgettable
Don't know if you were making a funny or not if so never mind these comments.
Anyway I would not say I hate the album. I haven't heard it since around the time it dropped so I forgot it.

Ok, out of curiousity, I played the snippets from this album (Success Is Certain) on amazon.com, and although I like Royce, there's something about this album I'm not feeling (can't quite put my finger on what it is). I honestly don't even think I want to give it another go around either.

This album is 100% different from his other work, Wayne.

Different in a positive or negative way, in your opinion?

Positive, IMO. This album has the Eminem stamp all over it (not necessarily a bad thing). Royce usually rock over tracks that are as mellow as Success Is Certain. The beats are generally more in your face, and flow better on his other albums. He does a lot of 'singing' on hooks here, too, which isn't something you normally hear.

You honestly can't judge an album entirely on snippets, Wayne. There have been several times in which I wasn't all that impressed by the snippets but ended up loving the songs and albums, and others in which the snippets were dope and the album turned out mediorce.

And that's true about the snippets KJ. Simply because I like Royce, I may still end up copping this one.

I feel the same as Kevin about Death is Certain. It was the first and last Royce album I downloaded. I didn't even bother putting it to disc for the ride. Now I respect the folks I see promoting him, so I just have to assume its not for me. Nothing necessarily bad about it, just nothing that caught my ear.
This could easily be a case of unreasonable expectations.

If you have a love/hate relationship with a woman, she's definitely not forgettable. That's fucking asinine. I'm not the statement police, but I just expect consistency in statements from people that are all over everybody's asses for their opinions.

My rankings of the albums I own minus "Success Is Certain" cause it's still so new:
1. "Death Is Certain"-Dope dope album. 2. "Street Hop"-This one is almost interchangeable with "Death". 3. "Bar Exam 2"-A top 5 mixtape. 4. "Rebuild & Destroy"-Didn't like this one as much as the others, but still quality. 5. "Rock City 2.0"-I agree it's unbalanced, but it's worth having for "Boom" alone.
I think you should definitely pick up "Success" Wayne. It's really grown on me with every spin and if you dig Royce, I think you will dig the album. I don't have alot of complaints about it.
