| What? They released only TWO albums seventy years ago, and faded away, and Large Pro is dope as a producer but his solos are 4 stars at best. |

| See, this forum's bias is ridiculous. Shitty jazzy-faggy groups and kill yourself psychos are 95% of this forum's tastes.
Two albums IS NOT ENOUGH to be top 100, let alone top 50. |

Two albums IS NOT ENOUGH to be top 100, let alone top 50. WTFE!! Large Professor had solo albums too so I'm putting that into the equation, not to mention his cameos. I'd say more of your favs got in than didn't, so stop bitching! |

| Solo albums none of which are more than four stars, and Main Source's second album is 4 stars at best. |

4 stars = Excellent That's more than can be said about a number of artists who made it. |

| Fuck What You Think wasn't close to Breaking Atoms, true, but we're talking about Large Pro also, and I think the LP & Main Source were both at least 4 star albums (I'd actually rate The LP higher than that), and 1st Class wasn't bad either. | |

| Hey Steve,
MF Doom, Cormega, Paris, Tech N9ne, Kurupt, Mac Dre, Yukmouth, K-Rino, WC & The Madd Circle, Canibus, Trick Daddy, and Company Flow are ALL in the Top 100 as of today, and NONE of them have any consensus classics.
There are also a number of MC's that only have one consensus classic, and that classic isn't as good as Breakin Atoms. So I don't see the point of your argument other than you not being a Large Professor or jazz rap fan. |

| A normal career will have ups and downs KJ, ups and downs. You chose all underground artists, so of course none of them have a consensus classic. I also neithered Kurupt, Mac Dre, Yukmouth, WC, and Company Flow. But anyway, the point you are missing here, is that Main Source completely and utterly fell off and became irrelevant, even to their fans, after their first album, it's just an amazing dive. All the other artists, even those that I neithered, at least start off high, maybe get lower, but go high again, not one trick ponies, not one hit wonders. |

| Steve I really get where you are coming from and that is why it took so long for me to nominate this grp/artist. But when I thought about Large Pro as a solo artist and how smooth his flow his and he has mic skills and two 4+ albums and one golden age must have classic I had to give the man his due. |

| Large Pro left Main Source after the debut, and he basically WAS Main Source for all intents and purposes, so of course they became irrelevant. But he never fell off as an artist, he was just held up by label politics in his solo career. You'd have a point if he just sucked after Breaking Atoms, but circumstances were all that held him up, and he's still going strong as an artist. | |

I understand what you're saying. If it were just about Main Source then I probably would've voted neither. But it's ALSO about Large Professor. Since the two were combined, they make my Top 100. I've enjoyed all but one of LP's solo albums. While he himself doesn't have a consensus solo classic, he does have one with Main Source and has many classic collaboration songs to his credit and he NEVER fell off as a solo artist. As for underground artists, I'd say Jurassic 5, Blu, and Masters Of The Universe/One Be Lo have consensus classics. |

| I don't know how you're judging consensus classics, but if J5, Blu, and Masters of the Universe/One Be Lo have consensus classics according to you, so do some of the people from your list before, like MF Doom, Paris, and Company Flow. | |

The only one I'd argue is MF Doom's Madvillany. Most have that album at 4.5 stars but I can see why some would call it a classic. Otherwise I disagree with you. |

The Realness is 4 stars IMO, and I don't know anybody outside of this forum that considers it a classic. Sure there are other underground classics, I was just giving a few examples. |

Bullshit! If that were the case I'd give it 3 or lower. 4 stars is still considered an excellent album. It's not skip free to me, and Mega isn't the lyricist that Nas is. I'd even rank AZ over Mega. Doe or Die is much better than the Realness. |

As for AZ murking Nas on the same track, I personally don't see it. I think they were even on a number of tracks but I wouldn't say AZ outshined him on any of them. The only people I ever hear say that are those who dislike Nas (You, Steve, Cory, etc) |

| For the last time KJ, you have no clue who's on my goat list, you're retarded. Cage wouldn't come close to my goat list.
Also, my point was Cormega's consistency was better than Nas'. Mega hasn't dropped an album less than 4, whereas Nas has a 2.5 album. |

| KJ, putting the word "consensus" in front of "classic" doesn't mean anything if you're just talking about your opinion of an album. | |

Also, my point was Cormega's consistency was better than Nas'. Mega hasn't dropped an album less than 4, whereas Nas has a 2.5 album. I'd say Nastradamus was a 3, and the only reason for that is because The Lost Tapes was supposed to be released with it but he left it off because of bootlegging. Otherwise it would have been 4 or better because The Lost Tapes is a classic. Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes, and Untitled are CLEARLY better than The Realness (I personally think God's Son and HHID are better too but that's just my opinion). Nas' catalog is FAR SUPERIOR to Cormega's. Anyone that says otherwise is simply a Nas hater. As for Cage not coming close to your GOAT list, I apologize. But Haystak is on your list and he's equally as wack. |

Well Einstein, the vast majority of people I know (both on and offline) call Quality Control, SONOGRAM, Masters Of The Universe, and Below The Heavens classics. That's why I used the word consensus. |

| It's all personal preference....I put The Realness over any Nas album, not True Meaning though. The Realness is definitely a top 25, if not higher all-time classic to me, while Illmatic is not. No one is trying to argue that is more acclaimed than Illmatic though.
It's funny, the memory of some people. It took Illmatic over TWO YEARS to go Gold and Plat, and that was thanks to East Vs. West and beef. Anyone who said Nas brought back the East is full of shit, because he didn't sell shit for a hot minute. |

Aside from Illmatic, It's in the realm of possibllity that The Realness is better than any other Nas album. I'm not saying it is better than the rest of Nas' discography. However, it's close enough to go either way. | |
