Xmas game?

I only got one game from this year so far, Mortal Kombat. I'm thinking of maybe getting one or two around the holidays... my question to you guys is...

If were to only get one game from this year what should it be?

Battlefield 3 or Skyrim... depending on your preference

I have both Battlefield 3 and MW3. Honestly Battlefield is easily the better game but MW3 is more enjoyable to play. Been going back and forth between them quite a bit. If you have a bunch of friends on one game I'd roll with that one.

For me, it'd probably be Dead Island.

I think out of the new ones that was the main one.

I've heard great things about Skyrim.

Other new ones to consider:

Call of Duty: MW3

Batman - AA

Next year possible pre-orders:

Metro - Last Light

im gonna get Skyrim cuz its something new that ive never played before. If i have enough money ill also buy NBA2k12...

usually id buy any Zelda the day its released but i actually still have to beat Twilight Princess (yes that came out like 6 years ago) so im gonna hold off til i finish that game. Saints Row also has my interest

I got Saints Row III for $1 from Onlive during their sale. I refuse to support NBA 2K12 since they chose to do with Jordan and other old rags on the cover. Dirk deserved the cover this year.

Did anyone play Deus Ex Human Revolution, Dark Souls, or the latest Assassin's Creed?

NBA 2K12 (It's basically a $60 roster upgrade for 2k11, but I like it)
MW3 (haven't played Battlefield yet...Bad Company 2 burned me pretty bad...I'm leary)
Skyrim (it's a beast of a game)

I just wanna know if Arkham City is as horrible graphically as it's predecessor. I thought the first one looked awful. I can play a bad game that looks good, but I can't play a good game that looks bad...

My opinion of Jordan the player and Jordan the owner are entirely different. As a player he's the greatest ever to step on the court. As an owner/front office guy he's been sub-par but has the opportunity to turn it around.

He had to side with the owners because well, he is one now. At least a minority owner. I wasn't on either the owners or players side during the lockout. I'm just glad we're gonna have NBA basketball again and the differences were worked out.

So I take it that you didn't like the first Grand Theft Auto. That game had NES graphics (and that's being kind) but it was hella fun! The series would not have jumped off the way it has if it wasn't for that game. I'm the opposite of you. I can't play a bad game no matter how good it looks. Maybe as a rental but not more than that. The first GTA is probably the best example of a good game that looks bad. It was tremendously fun though and I've been a GTA fan ever since.

As for Arkham City, the graphics are improved from Arkham Asylum. Although I didn't have a major problem with them.

Good point. In hindsight, yeah, it's a classic, but we really hadn't seen anything like it at the time (I'm assuming). If that first (well, technically, 2nd) GTA came out right now in 2011, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

I'm pretty sure my position has caused me to miss out on some good games though...

The person on the cover is irrelevant to sports games, which is why I feel the cover should have been given to Dirk.

And I can play good games with bad graphics and I can handle bad games with good graphics, but on a lesser scale. As long as everything is working fine with no big game play issues like loading times or awful camera angles.

Has anyone played the Earth Defense Force series? I love the first one and am looking forward to the second one.

Never heard of Earth Defense Force. Is it a PC game?

Nah, it's for X Box and PS3. It's a real simple game, it's like a rail shooter almost, but you do move around. Basically it's like 100 levels of being attacked by giant insects and robots and collecting weapons.

i really dont care about graphics they r waaaay secondary. Id play a good game with awful graphics but never a bad game with good graphics fuck that no point.

Uno, Yahtzee!, Parcheesi, Trivial Pursuit, Hi Ho Cherry O, Chutes & Ladders. I'd recommend one of those.

Um, if you're talking about family friendly party games then the best is Russian Roulette easily. It's a great game in both groups and solo. Lounge's obsession over the game lead me to check it out and it's fucking exhilarating.

Best way to look at it since all 3 are real good is to go by what type of game mood you are in:

Batman AC- short, well paced, realistic, action/stealth

Skyrim- Long, adventure/action/rbg, lots of depth.

Saints 3rd- Fun, fun, fun. Something for pure entertainment.

I usually only get Madden & 2k every year....So I'll be getting 2k12 around Christmas....on the PS3

I just played about an hour and a half of Rage... fun post-apocalyptic, missions that you can prioritize however you want with side jobs here & there.

Well I ended up getting Skyrim and Crysis 2, both dope.

Since Christmas, I have upgraded to an HDTV and bought myself a ps3. Got a stack of games from a friend, to borrow, but he's having marital troubles and needed some loot, so he sold them to me. I own:

Uncharted 3 (bought the ps3 bundle)
GTA IV
Modern Warfare
Modern Warfare 2
Medal of Honor Airborne
Metal Gear Solid 4
Madden 09
SOCOM Confrontation

And I traded in most of my ps2 games and bought Black Ops and Star Wars: Force Unleashed.

So far, I've only played MW, MW2, a little of GTA IV, Black Ops and Star Wars.

Also, since my friend isn't staying at his house, he let me borrow MW3, Battlefield 3 and Medal of Honor. Unless there's something I'm not used to, the online mode of Black Ops is more fun than MW3. Maybe it's just me. I have yet to try Battlefield 3.

Black Ops is far easier than MW3 but I find MW3 more enjoyable (when the lag isn't unbearable). MW2 is better than both combined though. It was the most broken game perhaps of all time but it was a barrel roll of fun. The sheer amount of hours I logged on that game is incredible...

Only give BF3 a try if you have friends who also have it. Its not a game you can just load up and jump into. Ideally you need a full squad (4 people) to have a worthwhile time. That being said, and I say this because I have both games and have played both extensively, BF3 is the better game in nearly every facet. Acrid will disagree with me on this when he sees it.

The only major drawback of BF3 is that the matches are unbearably long at times which is only an issue if you have limited time to play during the day which is where MW3 shines as games are relatively quick.

GTAIV is pretty boring, Myestro. MGS4 is dope as a motha, though

The overt racism in Saints Row doesn't bother you, Kev? Or anybody else, for that matter?

Yeah, GTAIV doesn't seem to hold my interest like San Andreas did. I mean, the graphics are good, but driving has become a pain in the ass. Plus, it's just a pain because I don't know the map at all, really. But, I'm sure I'll whittle away at it, and maybe I'll have some fun with it at some point.

I have no doubts about MGS4, since I've liked every game from the series.

I still need to cop Skyrim at some point, and try FF XIII, and I want to see what GTA V is like.

I'm eagerly awaiting Assassin's Creed III. I blew through AC, AC II, Brotherhood and Revelations. I'm more excited about III because, according to the trailer, it takes place in the Mohawk Valley (right where I live) during the Revolutionary War.

Hell yeah, I'm not blown away by the storyline, but I'm still really excited for new Skyrim stuff. Still wish they'd add a Brawler skill tree and that you could jump while sprinting, but meh...

I enjoyed all of them. But I played them while playing the regular game also. Made my experience fun.

I missed out on becoming a werewolve during that mission in Skyrim like a ass. I still have the wolf ring though is it too late?

yeah, I'm pretty sure its too late... unless they add a another chance to become one in the expansion.

I only played the Broken Steel expansion for Fallout 3; pretty cool. All of the New Vegas ones are dope as hell except the Dead Money one, IMO

I actually got rid of my lycanthropy when you had the option to with the Glenmoril witch heads. It was cool but never used it outside of the companion missions and I figured there would be some negative effects down the line so..

I didn't cure mine on the original mission, and with back and tried to, but it wouldn't work. I didn't really want to be a werewolf, but now that there's a skill tree for it, it might be interesting.
