LOL, i need to check out the Brother Ali. Other than that, K-Rino has been the only interesting album so far. I just ordered the new Copywrite and Planet Asia though. I'll drop my thoughts on those when they come in.

All I've gotten so far this year is Gangrene "Vodka & Ayahuasca". It's good, but kinda dull after a while. I need to cop the Planet Asia (must have) and Copywrite. I'm gonna cop the new Kid Cudi, I'm big fan of his, dude hasn't disappointed me yet.

I've only got the Gangrene album and it's solid. I plan on checking for that Ali EP but he has full length coming out soon that I'm anticipating more. Things really look to be picking up in March. Can't wait for that Bumpy Knucks/Premier and Apollo Brown/O.C.

I've still been listening to 2011 music. The 1st thing I will probably get from 2012 will be the Schoolboy Q more than likely because I have been playing Section 80 and the EP from Kendrick Lamar lately. I'll listen to the BDP Album again on Spotify but it was just Ok to me the first time I heard it.

I'm still catching up on 2011, too. And how many albums/projects have really dropped this year that the majority of us would want to hear?

Just saw the trk list for the Premo/Bumps joint album and it looks promising. That will be a str8 blind buy.

i dont consider mixtapes albums, i still hear a clear divide in how they sound even though the quality has been greatly increased.

Slang, do you think that Return of 4Eva and 4Eva N A Day sound like mixtapes? I could say maybe KRIT Wuz Here has somewhat of a mixtape feel but the other two sound fantastic to me. Are you basing your opinion on sound quality alone? My reasoning was really more that certain artists are now calling some projects mixtapes even tho they are completely new material. Mixtapes in the classical sense were full of remixes, rehashes, and exclusives.

Ok, so I'm gonna try and update this list often this year. I think its actually my first attempt at a best of the year list. I'm going to time stamp all my posts and then quote my own posts as I change the list so I can see all the changes I make and how my opinions change over time. I decided to do this because shortly after my first post this morning, I listened to Planet Asia - Black Belt Theater and immediately moved it to number one. no, its just the artist didnt mean for the mixtape to be a retail album so Im not gonna treat it like one. Also, some mixtapes obviously sound like albums and some sound like mixtapes, I treat them all the same to avoid blurring the lines. Let the artist release his debut album so I can judge it as what he intended and Ill just his mixtapes as he also intended...thats pretty much my reasoning

You know I haven't tried it. I did upgrade to premium for a month for free and then cancelled. But I heard Spotify extended the free period for US users indefinitely... you should look into that.

8. Planet Asia "Black Belt Theatre"-"Mach One" is one of my fav tracks of the year.
9. REKS "Rebelutionary"-Dope album but nothing new.
10. Big Krit "Live From The Underground"-Dope album but some annoying hooks keep it behind.
11. REKS "Straight No Chaser"- Dope album but he needs a few hardcore tracks to go with the mello stuff.
12. Mello Music Group "Self-Sacrifice"-Dope compilation. "Tuxedo" is my ish!
13. El-P "Cancer 4 Cure"-To me, his most accesible solo album. Dope material for sure.
14. Statik/Strong Arm "Stereotype"-This is really dope, may go up a few spots.
15. Stik Figa "As Himself"-Mello music holding it down! Really short but dope album.
16. Mayday "Take Me To Your Leader"-Still potential to go up, I just haven't spun it enough.
17. 1982 "2012"-This 1982 stuff just isn't clicking with me. It's alright, nothing great.
18. DJ Premier/Bumpy Knucks "Kolexxxion"-A letdown, but still not bad. Just should have been alot better.
19. Obie Trice "Bottoms Up"-About what I expected. Has some dope tracks. Probably only going to be good enough for an occasional spin though.
20. Gangrene "Vodka & Ayahuska"-I know people like this, but it really let me down. I like "Gutter Water" but this one falls short. Bores me to death.
21. B.O.B. "Strange Clouds"-Straight Dog Chit!

2. Killer Mike & El-P- Rap Music (Another awesome Killer Mike album)
3. DJ Premier & Bumpy Knuckles- The KoleXXXion (It took me 3 listens to fully like this one)
4. 1982 Statik Selektah & Termanology- 2012 (I like this one better than their first album)
