Do you all think this cat will make any moves when he gets released? I heard Jay was interested in him, but I don't know how much impact he will have in this oversaturated industry. Thoughts?

Shyne's time has probably passed by now...back in '99-2000 he would have made much more headway but in '09 the kids will say he's just old school now....kinda like when Slick Rick blew his career to smithereens when he was locked down for a minute, that jail shit may help when it comes to getting extra stuff to write about but it kills a career, ask Mike Tyson, C-Murder, Plaxico Burress..etc...I liked Shyne's first joint too, but I think his time has passed now...

I co-sign what you said Powell. Sucks for Shyne though. The guy had talent, and who knows what could have come out of his career back then. Roc Nation was interested in the guy, but who knows what road Shyne wants to take now. I saw that video interview a couple months back. You can tell he has matured a lot and definitely wants to continue his music. Hiphopdx.com has an article to where Diddy explains he talked with Shyne and hope he plans a comeback of some sort. I'm surprised he even contacted him.
I've never been a big Shyne fan to be honest. I liked a few of his songs but his lyrics and album were average to me.
I do agree that he could have niched out a nice career for himself though ala Mase or Black Rob, but even in his prime he was average so I doubt cats would be checkin for him now.
Slick Rick is a different story because he was already considered a legend before he went to jail, and he ended up dropping a dope album in "The Art Of Storytelling" but unfortunately for Shyne, he's not on Rick's level.
I dont see shyne getting far. I never really like his music, he had some alright stuff back in the day but i dont see anyone people interested in him. I think most people forgot about him and i cant see him getting the right promo to get any big attention
I agree with most that he was not all that when he left and he was a very one dimensional emcee. I think there will be some hype about it though because the streets have been kept buzzing due to beefs and and his "street cred" so if you finds the right or hype label situation he may ahave a very small window of opportunity to make some noise. I just hopes he does not come out complaining about label deals and why this and why that and does not wait to long for this "perfect" situation to sign. Get on that grind mista.

Some of Shynes work early on was pretty good. Hope someone gives him a second chance In the music industry once he's officially released from prison.

Yep, he's gonna need money. No dough, no ho. Shyne don't seem too smart. Well, I cant see Jay-Z doing stupid shit to get locked up. He'll try to do some corny shit to get him on the radio again. But you never know. I honestly do see him blowing up. To me he never dropped a dope song.
