| I think One Be Lo is the best rapper to debut since 2000 if we are just talking about skills. | |

According to his wiki he came out before 2000. He would be right up there though.

| Come on Ralph. If you notice I didn't even post an answer in my original post so how can I possess the one and only answer? Learn to play with others - I'm only responding to people's suggestions as they are given, if you can't take a discussion then that's your problem. |

No reason to get bent out of shape, SRP. You just mocked Jeff's answer and I was curious. It's really all opinion. |

Crooked has been around since the mid 90s. He was signed to Death Row for a while. Saigon may have been post-2000, but I'm not sure. Royce was out before 2k, as well.
I'm not sure who I'd pick here. I'll get my answer later.

| I said POS because it's the response people expected. I can't say Sandman, Haystak, etc. because they were out long before 2000.
POS is doper than Joe Buddens though.
Truthfully my answer would probably be...I dunno, this is a tough one. Apathy? |

| My personal choice is Lupe Fiasco. I loved Food & Liquor and The Cool and still bang them to this day. A lot of people on this forum don't like him because he's a "hipster" but lyrically he's dope as funk and flips some hot punchlines and metaphors. He's also great when it comes to subject matter (Hip Hop Saved My Life, The Instrumental, Daydreamin, He Say She Say, American Terrorist, Little Weapon, The Cool/Coolest, Dumb It Down, etc) |

| I think Lupe is a good choice... for you.. I mean personally I think he is overrated and tad bit boring, but still one of the more hyped, bigger splash psuedo-underground/mainstream emcees of this decade... |

I like Lupe. I just don't think his talent justifies the hype. Good choice though

| Bueno. 3 top notches (Change The Game, The Sacramento B & Maloof Money) & Back To The Future Mixtape is excellent as well. Opinion obviously since I'm guessing none of you know who he is, but it's all good, I don't know who most of the artists you guys mention are either. | |

| Well he is from a town known more for that hard gangsta rap and so he probably has a hard time coming from there - I think the Back II The Future mixtape helped him get better known in the bay but he needs to get big there first. |

| Dude, this is my problem right here. (Lupe Fiasco is a fine choice, btw, I'd much rather have some one pick Lupe than Jeezy or some crap like that) POS possesses a better flow, better lyrics, more range, and has genuinely made some groundbreaking music whereas Apathy (while more popular) has some good song concepts, clever punchlines, and some versatility with his flow BUT has never made anything close to "Audition" or "Never Better". In fact, dude has never dropped more than one indie warm up album for a major lable debut that never happened. Granted, Apathy is a respectable choice IMO but he's not on POS' level in any way shape or form. POS can craft dope singles (Goodbye, POS Is Ruining My Life) and they're not dumbed down.
Just fucking with ya...I get why you don't like POS.
My REAL choice is Copywrite, after much deliberation. |

| I like POS... I still think his album is a solid 4.25 - 4.5 CD... he's dropped in my top ten rankings to the lower part... but I think POS is a rapper who doesn't stand on his own.
Like if he made a mixtape of freestyles over other people's beats I would not want to peep it.. he needs dope beats, etc... and good concepts to be dope - where as Apathy, Joe, Lupe, etc all are more pure, better rappers. |

| I see your point, but I understood that to begin with. Just like El-P, Cage, etc. You can't put them in the same league as dudes like Ill Bill, Tech N9ne, etc. people that can shine on any track. |

For real, I see his music's merits but on some really real he's like Esham meets RBX and they had a really wack baby. |

| I haven't heard ROBO DE. Only CD I have is that old double disk he had with all his old crap before he dropped a CD.
I heard some of his tracks on youtube... they on some dark crap... it's cool I guess but I might need to bump it more to get a full feel... |

| I guess Ludacris did release Incognegro, independently in 1998 (which was released in 2000 as Back for the First Time).
T.I. released his first album, I'm Serious, in 2001.

Kanye West The Game T.I. Lupe Fiasco
and funk that ep elzhi released in 1999 or whatever, he's post 2000 so he's up there and royce's first didn't drop until 2002 so he's on my list too. |
