Who produces The Roots stuff? I know they are a band so I am sure a lot of hands dip into that pot, but they make some dope music and I never see their names come up.

The Roots have had multiple producers.
Questlove has done the most production work for them. But Dilla, Black Thought, Rahzel, Grand Negraz, Scott Storch among others have produced for them as well.
Questlove is dope, he's a Top 20-30 producer or so for me. I think the reason he's been overlooked is because they're a band but he's definitely talented.

Well, from what I understand Questlove does more of the work and Storch just did the keys for them early?
Either way, you never hear Questlove's name brought up as GOAT producers - given how much people love The Roots, shouldn't he be?

For me its a toss up between Kno and Stoupe. Ant and Kanye also deserve mention.
Ayatollah has a lot of potential. I wish he'd put in more work.

?uestlove is certainly dope. Personally, he gets into q lot of sounds that dont really appeal to me. I suppose that's a credit to his versatility.

Yeah he should be, but I think it's because he doesn't handle the Roots' production alone like most of the top producers do. Nevertheless I love their sound and he's definitely on my list.

Damn, I forgot about The Neptunes. Their production on Hell Hath No Fury was classic. Plus they've also made been a top the charts with more mainstream acts.

smh! Sabzi is far from the problem with Blue Scholars. That dude is a solid choice.
Yeah. I can see some folks not liking Blue Scholars because of Geologic, but if you think Sabzi is a bad choice here, you need to clean the wax out of your ears.

Sabzi has some excellent tracks to his credit, but the majority of his work is lackluster and forgettable.
Forgettable, meaning not your style. Because he's obviously better than a lot of the hacks listed here.
Nuff said.
not better than anyone i listed
Another CO-SIGN
because IMO Sabzi is NOT better than 9th Wonder...Alchemist nor Kryhsis (I know his work is limited but this dude has produced waay better bangers than Sabzi IMO)
and he certainly is not better than The Neptunes or Kanye
you know what FUCK SABZI! dude is exactly what Parker said he was...he has done some decent things but nothing memorable like Pounds nor Tranny is pretending he did...and a bunch of his shit is BORING IMO!

I think I was a bit misunderstood about Sabzi. I feel that when he's on his game, yes: he's one of the best around. However, tracks like NxNW and Tobacco Rd only manifest at the rate of one or two per album.
Now you could say I think this because I don't like his style, but I think you'd be wrong. Some of Sabzi's music is some of my favorite recent hip hop. And, I think songs like the aforementioned represent the sound he is regularly shooting for.
If he could actualize more often he would easily be one of my favorites. He's just inconsistent, but I do like him better than most of. These suggestions.

The Alchemist is most certainly a hack. lol
um, the Alchemist is doing some of the most creative/advanced things right now with his production style, you need to peep his interviews, Sabzi couldnt begin to dream of doing the things Alch is doing

Dude, North by Northwest? Good song, but not one of Sabzi's best beats by far IMO. Same with Tobacco Road. Actually, I disagree with your whole statement. If anything, Sabzi is one of the most consistent in the game. It's the rapper that may lack from time to time.

Can't say I ever really cared for Alchemist much from day 1. He's got some bangers but far more throwaway cuts IMO. Of course, I tend to dislike those he collaborates with.

How about Moka Only? His 4 and 5 star albums list is longer than pretty much anybody's entire career.
