| The B.O.B. thread gave me this idea but who are the 5 or more most original rappers from this decade. I mean they do not sound like someone else or they do not remind you of anyone else. They remind you of the 80's and 90's when you could put 10 rappers in the same room and none would sound the same. |

| I meant only cats who debuted this decade. I don't agree about BOB though. K'Naan is a great choice. |

| I only agree with Luda on that list, though technically he was around in the 1990s and dropped his first album then no?
K-Os K'Naan D-Sisive BOB The Bug Dizzee Rascal
I think the running theme is a lot of this is international talent.
I am drawing a blank on true original styles debuting in the 2000s from the states. Maybe:
Field Mob
I'd nominate Trae and Z-Ro but they are late 1990s as well.
No real DMX's or shit this decade.
Maybe Game? He made name dropping a popular style. |

| I nominate NOBODY...
Why Andre and Big Boi both of whom debuted in 1994 would be on anybody's list as most original THIS DECADE is beyond me....please explain SRP???
From this past decade 2000-2010 they haven't been any originators...all of the dopest ideas have already been used during the 80's and 90's...so heads like De La Soul....Outkast...Public Enemy....Camp Lo.....LL Cool J......KRS-One....Biggie...Nas....and so on and so forth have already used up the dope ideas...these cats from the last decade are in fact some of the most UNORIGINAL cats in the history of hip-hop!

| In his original post kevin just says FROM THIS DECADE - not DEBUTING THIS DECADE
which is two complete different things. Hence my initial response because outkast are easily one of the most original group during this decade.
He clarified his question later on and I clarified my answer... |

Only Lupe Fiasco qualifies on your list KJ - though I see nothing original about him. |

Only Lupe Fiasco qualifies on your list KJ - though I see nothing original about him. That was a straight up contradiction..... And who raps like Black Thought or Jurassic 5? If Outkast qualifies having debuted in the 90's then I don't see why the Roots can't. They are every bit as original.

| Goodness...
let me explain this once more to you two:
When I read Kevin's original post, I interpreted it as indicating he wanted to know who was most original this past decade - period.
I then posted my list using this criteria.
Kevin responded indicating he meant only rappers who DEBUTED this decade.
I then posted a new list later on using Kevin's clarified criteria.
If you do not understand this, the education you require is beyond the scope of this forum. |

| To update my list:
R Prophet Kanye West Brother Ali Suga Free Killer Mike Ludacris Lupe Fiasco Rah Digga
I have never heard anyone who sounds like the above. Did they cahnge the game? No. Well except Kanye maybe but they came with their own styles and deliveries imo. |

Phonte can make my top 20 (number 20 to be exact) without being the most ORIGINAL....it's who I deem to be the best on the mic....you don't have to be necessarily the most original to get on the list man...that response makes no sense... as for most original for this decade???? okay maybe Ludacris..who was like a southern Busta Rhymes IMO...in terms of his off the wall personality and videos! Hmm how about Nelly....no one sounded like him when he came out....not that thats necessarily a bad thing either....lol

| I wouldn't consider Rah Digga being a female with a deep voice original.
R Prophet is just a singing rapper.
Kanye west is not an original rapper - maybe with his production, but even that was just an old idea resurrected and done well.
Bro Ali is albino - is that considered a style now?
Suga Free I can see if he debuted in the 2000s...did he? I swear he was doing stuff before then.
Killer Mike is pretty straight forward rhymer - dope, but not original.
Luda gets a nod.
Lupe is a nother straight forward rapper - nothing original there.
Kid Cudi more original than all your list. |

| I mean lets not get that technical SRP. Nelly really did not blow though until the 00's. And Nelly is good pick.
Prophets rhyme style is whats original to me with the singing, reggae style, and his rhyme delivery all combined. Never heard it before.
Who sounds like Bro Ali? Seriously tell me?
Kanye whole persona, delivery, voice cadence, and flow were all original to me. I mean we have heard people with only one of those aspects before sure but all 3 come on. the whole cocky metro style is all Kayne. All your BOB's, Drake's, Cudi's etc etc came from that mans style. |

| Well Kanye stole his style from the Chi - you listen to Mikkey Halsted and that is wear Kanye got his style from.
BOB, Drake, Cudi, etc. are nothing like Kanye IMO - you are dumbing it down if you are making it that general.
Bro Ali to me sound like Slug or any other similar rapper - his voice is a little different and deeper - but are we just going off people with distinct voices? That doesn't really make it original to me.
Prophets style is really nothing new - he just did it with a southern accent. |

| Did you really just say Ye "stole" his style from a whole city? Just admit you have no proof and move on. If thats the case do you now how many rappers probably got their style from their surrounding area?
Bro Ali sound nothing like Slug. |
