Senim Silla debuted before 2000 There were 1,000 copies of Waterworld around in 1999. 2000 is the main release of Waterworld/Masters Of The Universe. Aesop Rock had "Music For Earthworms" & "Appleseed" released 1997-1999 and I thought "Float" also came out in 1999 but wiki says 2000. Since Float did drop in 2000, I'll let it slide this time since those early one's were independent. lol

Yes they do. The topic is most original. I see your gripe on Grip Grand, but not the other 2. Who else sounds like them?

Phonte has a very original sound/flow IMO. I can't begin to compare him to another. And Shad, well, his whole point of view/outlook of writing and hip-hop in general is very unique IMO. I can see him being a more refreshing change this decade as opposed to being completely original.

| Phonte is not original whats the difference between him and every rapper in De La Soul, Souls Of Mischeif, Pharcyde, Masta Ace, Ed OG, Big Pooh, One Be Lo, etc etc.
Blu is another terrible pick imo. See above. |

Blu is another terrible pick imo. See above. What? Hardly any of those rappers are similar. What's the difference between him and Big Pooh? Seriously? Kanye can't even rap. And Pharcyde/Souls of Mishcheif? Not original? Are you high? I agree with you on Blu, Ed OG & One Be Lo.

My main problem considering Blu is that he has no range as an emcee. Guru had more range with his monotone delivery.

I know what he meant knowitall. lol The whole statement was ridiculous because he's completely different than all those emcees. How does Phonte compare to Fatlip? Opio? The answer is "he doesn't".

My main problem considering Blu is that he has no range as an emcee. Guru had more range with his monotone delivery. Range has nothing to do with this. He would be able to be picked out easily in a cypher. That's why I mentioned him. Now I understand his individuality is limited to vocal tone, not flow or delivery. That was my oversight. To the best of my knowledge this discussion has nothing to do with skill or preference.

And you misinterpreted me. 80s/90s artists are not in question. That is assumed by the thread title and subject, fool. How they compare to Phonte is what makes no sense. Kev is saying they are similar in some way by saying he's not original. Get it now?

To the best of my knowledge this discussion has nothing to do with skill or preference. Well, I'm not sure I'd pick Blu out of the crowd of MCs every time. He really isn't that unique IMO. Now Phonte, I could pick out in any track because he has more vocal range and a more unique flow....range can definitely speak of individuality. Take Gift of Gab for instance.

If you think about it, Blu is the black Geologic. Whether that is a positive or negative is open to everyone's opinion. I personally find them to be pretty similar, not in terms of lyrical content, but in terms of flow and lyricism.

Phonte is an extremely dope emcee but he doesn't appear on my radar as very "original".....his flow is a little bit unique but he's not all that original IMO!

They have a breakfast meal called the Haystack. It's a bottom layer of bisquits topped with eggs, then topped with hashbrowms, then topped with bacon, and then the entire thing is smothered with sausage gravy.
