| Christopher Wallace was the King Of New York, which made him the king of hip-hop from 1994-1997, hence he wins. |

Considering New York was not the king of hip-hop from 1994 to 1997, you would be incorrect. Big L in a blow out. |

Considering New York was not the king of hip-hop from 1994 to 1997, you would be incorrect. Big L in a blow out. YES THEY WERE!!! Look at the albums that came out during that time span and it's EASY TO SEE that NY was the King Of Hip Hop. Hell, NY is the all time king of hip-hop. The West went downhill when Dre left Death Row. |

I kind of cosign with this. Chronic and Doggystyle came out in 1992 and 1993. Pac only released two albums with Death Row. That output DOES NOT outdo albums like...... Illmatic 36 Chambers Ready To Die Liquid Swords OB4CL The Score The Infamous Hell On Earth Reasonable Doubt The Sun Rises In The East Illadelph Halflife Do You Want More Hard To Earn Muddy Waters KRS-One Doe Or Die Ironman There's many more but I'll stop there.... You might not like all the albums I listed, but the fact remains that the West wasn't putting out nearly as much quality as the East was during that time period, or throughout the rest of the decade for that matter. |

I see your points, and being an East Coast head, I was there during the East Coast Renaissance (circa 93-96), but overall, Death Row was a force to be reckoned with in the 90s. |

But Death Row only released a few great albums before their demise, so if they carried the West Coast then that's not enough to give them the overall edge against the East. If we were talking 90-93 then I'd be inclined to agree, but after that the East was in the house....OH MY GOD, DANGER!!! I made a truce with SRP so I'll be civil in my argument, but he's clearly showing bias. Then again, the East was never on top to him at any point despite the fact that the critical acclaim and stats say otherwise. That's pure bias. |

| Whoa KJ step your west coast game up. Deathrow was only the tip of the ice berg. They opened the gates for many west coast artist that was smashing the game in that era. No one was biting NY style like they were the west coast. Even the east coast started biting the west coast gangsta style. Mc Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Queen Latifah, Run Dmc, and many others started dropping all these hardcore albums & songs after the west was so successful with that gangsta shit.
Let's look at some this west coast shit that Deathrow opened the door for:
South Central Cartel Quik Spice 1 Mc Eiht Kam Warren G Twinz Conscious Daugthers Paris Above The Law E-40 Too Short Mack 10 Cube WC
I mean please try to deny the impact any of them made in the early-mid 90's. They were selling records and getting plenty of radio play. The west coast was the go to coast for a minute. |

| And the fact Big L is only one vote behind Big truly shows the underground favortism of this forum. I respect most of you guys votes and I am glad this is not predictable. But Big L could not fuck with Biggie. Big L does not even have a concensus classic album nor is he even mentioned on many GOAT list. He has no concensus classic songs or anything. So bite me...lol. |

We are comparing what ever we feel other than sales, mass appeal, and money. But mic skills should be at the fore front. Even then Biggie is far ahead of him imo. Big L may have the betta punchlines but word play, flow, and subject matter wise its a wrap. |

| I'm showing just as much bias as you are KJ.
I said Death Row AND the west coast. When you count in albums from Tha Dogg Pound, Spice 1, DJ Quik, MC Eiht, King T, Alkoholiks, etc. etc. - the west and the east stood pretty evenly during those years - but the facts are KJ that everyone on all coast was repping west coast and Death Row to the fullest during those years.
There would have been no West/East beef were it not for the public perception that the West was overshadowing the East - there is no bias there, just facts, NYC was not on top during that time in the public's eye. |

Yes, L was that good. and also Kev maybe its not the underground bias of this forum, maybe people that have actually listened to both prefer L more, you ever think about that. Most people that say Biggie are people who arent well versed in hip hop or Big L. Not saying L would win consensussly but that says something that among well-versed hip hop heads he is only one vote away | |

Well you said that me saying Biggie was better in every way was bias, and I was proving you wrong. As for punchlines, I'd say "If Fay had twins she'd probably have Two-Pacs, Get It? Two....Pacs" is as clever as any of Big L's punchlines. |

Biggie The discussion about the latter has nothing to do with the former. I just want to make sure we get the fact straight, respectively. |
